PW1: Moms of 4 year olds re: chores

My dd is almost 4.5 and she doesn't have any chores per se. She is usually pretty helpful when it comes to helping with the things she wants to do--wash windows, dust, etc. However, I'm sure there are some daily chores that I should require her to do and I am just drawing a blank. So, what are your daily chores for you 4 year old? Does you 4 year old get an allowance? Lastly, what are the consequences for not completing their chores? TIA :)

  • DD started chores sometime around 4.  She feeds the dogs and sets the table for dinner nightly.  That's it so far.  No she doesn't get an allowance and there are no consequences for not doing them, she has never not done them.  Oh, and that is not by any means a brag to how awesome she is, trust me, I think it has just always been a given for her that she does them and she has never considered it an option not to.

  • We started around 4, too.  She also feeds the dog, has to clear her place from the table at every meal, and make her bed in the morning (pull the blanket up).  No consequences, and no allowance.  Though if she remembers to do them all without reminders (has only happened maybe twice), we'll give her a couple of quarters for her piggy bank.

  • I was really bad with chores for DD and I notice it now. Maybe her idea of cleaning her room is just different than mine. She does have consequences, if her room isn't picked up she can't play outside with her friends.

For DS he has to put his clothes in his dirty clothes hamper every night before bath, put his shoes in his room and clean up his toys. He's pretty good about it.  No allowance and no consequences if he doesn't do them.

***OMG did I just answer a question about 4 year olds because my son is 2 months away from being 4!!!!
