My doctor and much of the research I read said whole milk. I give my son 24 oz a day. Some friends I have chatted with are doing 2%. Which did your doc recommend and/or what are you doing?

Whole milk. DD1 is 93rd% for height and only 25th% for weight, so aside from the fat for brain development the pedi doesn't want us skimping on anything that will help maintain her weight, as well.

My DD Is big for her age (height is 95% and weight is 93%) but the doctor still said to do whole milk from 1 to 2 years old and then switch. Their little bodies need the fat at this age.
Whole milk because of the fat content. 2% does not have enough to keep baby full. About 2 cups a day of milk with solid food and finger food. Include low suger juice in baby's diet.

We are doing 2% and our doctor supported that decision. Both sides of our family have history of obesity, heart disease and diabetes, so we decided to start with 2%based on recent research from the AAP. We still give full fat cheese and yogurt, so she's getting fat from other sources as well.
We were giving DD whole until her 18 month appt. I talked to her pedi and he said that the general recommendation is whole until age 2 but since DD is 90% for ht and wt and eats plenty of other diary we could switch to 2% whenever we felt comfortable. He said no skim/non-fat for kids. We switched DD a few weeks after the appt.
Re: Just curious, if baby has no dairy issues, 2% or whole milk?

We were doing whole milk but at her 18 month checkup he Pedi said we could switch to 2%. I am going to ask about skim at 2 year appt.
I have a chunkey monkey though
Juice never has to be a part of anyone's diet.
