Question for EBF Who've Started Solids

in May 2011 Moms

Does your LO seem any less interested in nursing having started solid food?  DH and I are getting ready to start solids, but I hope to continue nursing DS until he's one.  Do I need to worry that he'll prefer solid food and wean himself before then?  Or am I being silly?

    DD still nurses the same amount she did before we started solids and we've been doing solids for about 2 months now. I don't think you have anything to worry about, just be sure to offer the breast often. At this point, BM is the primary form of nutrition and solids are mostly for practice anyway.

    we have slowly started and she really has no interest in solids. she is all about the boob still.

    We haven't had any trouble either. It took us about two weeks to get to where she was actually ingesting a decent portion of solids. She still isn't taking in enough that it affects her meal schedule. It may stretch her an extra 30 min after she has solids, but she is still screaming for a b00b at the normal time.

    no. she still is great at nursing, but is even less interested in the bottle. She never really cared for the bottle though.

    I guess I'm the only one! LO has no problem eating.... doesn't miss a drop. He has been less interested in nursing and more fustrated lately. He actully wants to bottle more now... I think its faster even with slow flow.

    I also started working more, so I might  have dropped supply some

    My kids both still loved the boob.   I wouldn't worry about it.

    This.  I've been offering solids once or twice a day for a few days now.  She actually clamps her little mouth shut when she sees her purple spoon!  She seems to want to nurse more often, so I really wish she'd start eating some baby food.

    We're in a similar situation as sugarangel, but I think it is because ds enjoys solids and gets distracted a lot while nursing. I have noticed he nurses more in the morning and right before bed since introducing solids.
