Re: how old were you with #1 and are you having more?

  • I had my DS at 37 and I am not sure if I want a second one. Maybe because I gave birth not so long ago. I don't think you are crazy though. Maybe I will want one more in a year or two.

  • I was 37 with DD, and be a month from 40 when I deliver this one, so I don't think you're crazy at all!  Have you consulted your doc?  Could be there's a simple explanation as to why you're not having success that they could help you with.  In any case, good luck and I hope your dreams come true!

Oh - sorry, just saw your ticker - obviously you have sought assistance.  I'm sorry you're having a hard time :(  I hope you get that + sign very soon!!

  • i had my first at 34, second at 36 and third at 38.  Nope, you're not crazy!!
  • Had DD a week before i turned 42.  No more for us.
  • Not crazy at all! I'm 37 and just had my first. We'll definitely have a second, but we're not sure if we'll go the pregnancy route again or adopt.

  • I was 35 when I had DS and we're actively trying for #2 now. I just turned 38.
  • 38 when I had her (still 38).  About 98% sure there will not be another.  DH will be deployed for a year a week after Stella's first birthday and adding another baby to the mix at this time would just not work.  And with all that we would like to be able to do for/with this one, adding another to the mix would make it difficult if not impossible for some things to happen.

  • I had DS at 39 (got pregnant at 38) and we are one and done. In part due to age and in part due to financial/familial issues.

  • Not at all crazy! I had DD1 at 38 and DD2 at 40 and now we are done.
    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.
  • I was 35 when I had DD (2 months shy of 36) and am one and done.

  • I was just a few days shy of 35 when we had DD#1 and just had DD#2 at 37.  I want 1 more, but are waiting until DD#2 is 1 year old before we make that decision.  Since they are 26 months apart, I would like #2 & #3 a little further apart(I have NO IDEA how people do 2 under 2!), so likely I would be 40 when we have #3!  I'd have a 4th if I was younger!

So no, you are not crazy!

  • No, you're not nuts (that's me, I'm certifiable, see siggy). Um, I'll let you do the math, I'm 37, S is #5 and we are done like dinner, no more for us. IRL I have friends that are older than me still having babies. Don't lose hope!
  • i was 37 when i gave birth; team one and done so of course i think you're crazy to want another one. i kid! ;D

  • I had DD at 36.  It took us two years and one failed IUI to finally get pregnant naturally with DS who I had at 39.....(sometimes it just takes time...so hang in there).  I am now pregnant with LO #3 after TTC for 6 months, and will deliver at 40.  I think we will be done after this one.
  • I got my BFP a couple of weeks past my 40th birthday and am now 41.  I'm not sure if we'll go for #2.  I am torn because I always hoped to have 2-3 children, but I'm not sure we can afford or handle another one... at least not yet.  I would love our circumstances to allow us another baby, but right now it's totally up in the air.  We at least know that we would be "two and through" if we decide to TTC and are lucky again.

  • I was 38 when I had DD.  I turned 40 in May and we have been trying for over a year for #2 (just had our first round of IUI).  At this point, I will be 41 if I get pg in the near future.  Not sure how much longer we will try.

  • 35 with DD and 37 with DS.  We are still toying with the idea of a 3rd but pretty sure we are now done.  But honestly, we'd still go for it if we wanted another.

  • I was 37 when I had my first

I was 39 when I had my second

Took about 6 months to conceive with each.  Not crazy, IMO, to want another one.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • 37 when I had DS and I'll be a month shy of 40 when I deliver #2.  I'm 99% sure this is our last one.  We have family doing daycare and 3 might be pushing it.  It took us a year to conceive this one so hang in there.  And NO...you're not crazy!  Just because we started late doesn't mean we don't still have the dreams of the family life with kids!  Good luck!

  • No craziness... sounds like we are all in the same boat! :) I was a few days short of 36 with DD and will be a month shy of 38 with this one.

  • I was six weeks shy of turning 40 when I had DD. We are one and done. Mainly because it took five years, lots of medical help and $22,000. Also, I am now 41 and don't personally want to be that "old" and pregnant. It was hard enough the first time around.

But, we are very happy with our one and feel like a complete family. DH always talked about two, but after going through all we had to the first time, he is happy with our one and only little girl. I was always happy with just one.

On the other hand, I don't think others are crazy for wanting more at this age. Whatever will make you happy and content as a family and is right for you is the way to go.

  • I was just shy of 35 when DS was born.  We are hoping for more, assuming my body cooperates (history of a m/c and pre-e).

  • 37 when we conceived, 38 when I delivered our LO. We'd like to have one more, TTC #2 spring-summer 2012.

I developed GIH at week 32 of my pregnancy (went on bedrest at week 34, water broke at 35 wks, 5 days) and we're hoping that's not an issue the 2nd time around.

  • I was 34 when I had DS.  One and Done over here.

I know many people who have had children in their 40s.  It's truly an individual choice.  You're not crazy!

  • No, you are not crazy.  If you heart tells you that you want another, then follow your heart and screw anyone who thinks otherwise.  As for me, I was 38 when I delivered #1.  We were pg again this past Aug (at 40), but unfortunately, we lost that LO at 11 wks.  We will be trying again ASAP.  I see the Dr today for followup, so hopefully that will be next month.   Luckily, I conceive relatively easily (3 months with #1 and 2 months last time), so hopefully we'll get that BFP before my EDD for the one we just lost (end of Apr).

  • Had LO a few days past my 42nd birthday. Would love to have a second one but not certain it's fair to reset the clock on DP again. (He has a 14-year-old from a prior marriage and could see the light at the end of the parenting tunnel.)

  • Had DD a few days shy of 34 and DS at almost 36. I want to try for one more, even though everyone seems to think I am crazy. Deep down I wonder if they are right, but deep down I also know I want to try for that third baby.
