infant tylenol dosage

While getting shots today, we were told that we can give LO baby tylenol if needed. When we went to buy some the pharmacist said the Dr should have given us a dosage because what the box says will be way to much for a 7 week old baby. I have left a msg for the Dr asking for a dose, but while waiting for a call back I figured I'd ask here if anyone has given a baby so young tylenol and at what dose.

    It depends on the babies weight, the pharmacist should've been able to calculate that for your. When DD got her 2 month shots she was around 9 lbs, the dose for her was 0.5ml - 0.75ml

    My pedi won't let us use Tylenol at all.  Acetaminophen has been tied to increased risk of asthma, and because of that, they say no pain relievers at all until baby is old enough for ibuprofen at 6 months.

    I know it's not what you asked, but I figured I'd put the information out there for anyone who wasn't aware of it.  Google "acetaminophen asthma" and you can find some information.

    We gave our LO tylenol when he had his circumcision at 10 days old.  He weighed about 8 lbs and we were told to give him 0.5 ml of the suspension drops.

    Thanks for all the info. We did get another pharmacist to help - they recommened .4 ml (our LO is already 13 lbs at 7 weeks). I don't want to give any unless she really needs it though.
