Things to do?

Do and of you have suggestions for "things to do" with an 8 month old around Kent/Renton? My mom watches B so she does not have other kids around during the day.  I would love for her to have some time to interact with other babies and have some fun, but I can't think of anywhere for her to do that. The only place that crossed my mind was The Little Gym, but they only have classes for her age mid-day on weekdays. Unfortunately I have to work so that's out.

What activities do you do with your little one to get them some social time?

  • We used to do a story time at the library, when ds was that age. Not sure what they would have on weekends, but worth looking up! Also, I dont know what you have down south, but up here we have some coffee shops that are geared towards parents and babies, and have play areas for the kids. Maybe something like that? hth!

  • I would look into parent-baby swim classes through your parks and rec department. The ones around here all have Saturday lessons. Also, local gymnastics gyms may have a daytime parent-tot gymnastics, once she is a little older.

  • We go to gymboree in federal way, they have a good selection of classes on different days for different ages including saturdays... plus they are really relaxed about making up classes.  We also go to baby story time at the library (at the end they all get to play with toys together) and were going to Kinderswimmer (they do have a pool in renton).  I think the kent commons also has an indoor playtime for little ones https://www.ci.kent.wa.us/IndoorPark/ and they probably have some classes.

     Good luck!

  • The Kent-Meridian pool offers evening swim lessons you could take LO to.  We were going for a while, but just got too busy.  It worked out well though, because by time we got home DS was so worn out from swimming that he would be ready for bed by time we got home.

  • Looks like Auburn has an indoor playground on Saturdays.
