Intro & Temping Question

Hello Ladies - I'm new to the boards and wanted to give a quick intro and ask a question. My husband and I have been TTC for almost 6 months. When we decided it was time to start a family I got off BC 6 months before TTC and also went to the OBGYN for a preconception check-up. At my preconception check-up I had v-ultra sound and everything looked great. However my OB request I use OPK's to ensure ovulation. Since using OPK's I have only tested positive once using the clear blue digital. Other months I was using a cheap off brand but never got the solid 2 lines. If we do not get a BFP this month I'm thinking about doing temperature charting vs. OPK's. I've been reading a little online but thought I would get advice from the pros. So looking for advice, do you find vaginally or orally to be the most actuate. Also anyone have recommendation on a thermometer?

LAP&HSG - minimal endo removed/all cleared
DH SA: Morph 3%
OBGYN: 4 rounds of Clomid - BFN
Repeat HSG(11/21/2012) - Clear
November 2012 - IUI #1: Clomid 100 mg CD 3-7 + Ovidrel = BFN
December 2012 - IUI#2: Femara 5mg CD 3-7 + Ovidrel = Cancelled/RE office closed! BFN
January 2013 - IUI#2: Femara 5MG CD3-7 + Follistim + Ovidrel = TBD

    Welcome! 

    Many women use the Mabis bbt, which is available at Wal-Mart. I bought one on Amazon that was highly rated, I don't think it had a brand name. I temp orally.  Some women who have trouble seeing a clear thermal shift with oral temps decide to temp vaginally instead.  

    Check Fertility Friend out if you want to chart. They have great tutorials and it's free. You can get there by clicking anyone's chart.

    Welcome! Definitely check out the newbie link and FF. They are great resources.

    I use both OPKs and charting to detect ovulation. I was temping orally, but I have very erratic temps, so I will be temping vaginally next month. GL! I hope your stay here is short and sweet!

    Welcome! I bought my BBT at Walmart and I take my temperature orally. Like others have suggested, check out Fertility Friend. You can keep a chart for free and there are tutorials to guide you....

    OPKs are a good way of knowing that you are gearing up to ovulation and by charting your temperatures you'll know whether you actually ovulated...

    No advice that you haven't been given already (use Fertility Friend, read the newbie link, read Taking Charge of Your Fertility, etc.). Just wanted to say good luck! Temping and charting can be a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it. Welcome!
