My DD is the same age as your DS1 and just started going without a diaper at night this weekend. We used some of the tips in your post from the other day and had several conversations about getting up to use the potty and she could go in her frog potty or getting up and coming into our bathroom. She asked me if that's what I did and I said sometimes, but I usually just hold it while I'm sleeping and then go in the morning. She said that seemed like a good plan and sure enough, she just held it all night. It never occurred to me to explain that option, but I'm glad it came up because apparently, she's perfectly capable of just holding it.
I thought I'd mention it since I imagine we are having some of the same conversations ![]()
Re: ~*~MC~*~ re: night time PT
Thanks. It's hit or miss right now w/ him. The first night = accident, the second night= accident, BUT he got up in the night and pulled off the top sheet and put on new underwear
, third night = dry
, and last night HUGE pee.
Sigh. I have been asking him each night if he want to do a diaper or underwear and he's set on wearing them, so we're just gonna stick w/ it.
I'll give him the holding it option- I'm open to anything at this point!
yeah,, with Elena we just did the whole "hold it" option, and much to my surprise she started holding it. Her diapers were FULL before, so it really shocked me. I think she's ever had *maybe* 2 accidents.
Now Julia? Ahhhh. She hears our 'hold it' and laughs at us! Even the prize of Rapunzel panties isn't inspiring her, even though she really really wants them and talks about them at Target and Walmart and and and...

I didn't read the PP, but Abby was not nighttime PTed until after she was four (more than a year after daytime). We tried the first time right after she got the daytime down- she was so obviously not ready. She did not have a single dry night for about 4 in a row. So, I bought pull-ups (never thought I would) and told her they were "night time panties." She went with that for months and months and was fine wearing them at night instead of panties (i never called them diapers). Then after a year or so she started waking up dry some nights. She asked to wear regular panties at night and so she did. For the first 3-4 months it was hit or miss. She would go about 2-3 dry and then have an accident. After a few months she was good to go through.
I did ask her Ped at her 4 year appointment if I should be concerned and she said no.
Hang in there, he'll get it!
I was hoping you'd give him a potty in his room, so I'd have a test case on that suggestion
no way never. we have carpet upstairs. i would prefer it not to be pee soaked.
