Rec your ereader

I want one for Christmas.  Which one do you have- nook, kindle, etc?  Do you love it? Hate it?  Tell me why I should or should not get one.

Re: Rec your ereader

  • I have the Wifi Kindle and I love it.  So easy to use, so fast to get books (like, seconds), and they have tons of free ones and even over 1,000 you can borrow.  Love it!
  • Loading the player...
  • I have the 3G Kindle and I love it. For me, the hesitation over getting an ereader was because of staring at an electronic device is so bad for my vision. The Kindle screen is so much like looking at a real, paper book that I don't have those problems with it at all. I love it!

  • DH has a Kindle and I steal it all.the.time.  It is crazy-easy on the eyes and very easy to use.

  • I love my Nook.  Love it.  Easy on the eyes and I can store books on my Nook or on my B&N account to transfer to/from my Nook.  In fact, I was asking for a Kindle Fire for Christmas, but decided I'd rather have the Nook tablet instead.  Oh, and I love that I don't have to tote 10 heavy books in my carry-on anymore, I can just throw my Nook in my bag when we travel.

  • I love my Nook!  It has a great screen size, I can check books out from the library, I am buy books reasonable and I get a free book on fridays.    It is super easy to throw in my purse/bag and go.  I can read at night and not bother DH.

All, in all, I think you need to go to someplace that have both and check them out.  You might prefer one over the other.

  • I have the wi-fi kindle.  I really love it.  And now, you can borrow books from the library....bonus!  It's a great size and weight.  I was very hesitant about it because I love the feel and smell of books, but I am super glad that I asked for  it.

I did this too.  Best Buy for nook and Target for kindle.  Then I put my decision on my present list.

Best Buy had Kindles earlier this year when I got mine. In fact, DH bought my Kindle at BB. It was nice being able to literally look at the different readers side by side.

  • I had the original Nook and loved it, for all the reasons listed.  Then I got the Nook color- I love it too.  I mostly love the ease of getting new books. I find I don't have as long of periods of not reading something when I can just go online and decide what to read next.  I like the e-paper better for reading. But, I also love the nook color of all the other stuff- email, apps, surfing online.

If I wanted to buy JUST a e-reader now I would get the Nook Simple Touch- it is so lightweight (my one complaint about the color) and only $99.  If I wanted something more like a tablet that I also wanted to read on I would get the Nook tablet.

  • I have a kindle and love it.  I just started checking out books from the library on it and I guess Amazon just started a program where you can check out books from their library if you have an Amazon Prime account.  So that's something else to consider.
