Not my cup of tea personally, not to sound mean lol. When I think Virginia I think like old lady lol, my grandma's name is actually Virginia. But if you guys agree on it, and love it all the power to ya Congrats!
I have a little cousin, I think she's about 7 now, named Virginia and she's the funniest, sweetest girl. We called her Ginny when she was little, but now she insists that we all call her Virginia, she loves her name.
ETA: Oh yeah, duh, I love the name. I think Ellie is sweet and the only Virginia I know is a little kid, so I don't tend to associate it with old people.
LOVE Virginia. (I had a friend by that name years ago and we called her Ginny. She was adorable.) Ellie isn't a stand-alone name to me (especially if your DD does go by Ginny and then Ginny Ellie just sounds silly). If you are open to suggestions, what about Elizabeth, Ellen, or Eloise?
I love it! It was my grandma's name and even I have considered using it- because I like it so much. Some say lame things about the nicknames people might come up with, but I just don't think you can worry about that kind of thing. It is an awesome name! Go for it!
I love the name, but I would personally go with Eleanor instead of Ellie. I don't care for nicknames as actual given names. That's just me, though. Random opinion from random internet stranger. :P
Hmm...not sure I like the combination. I love both names. Virginia is the name of my great-grandmother. She goes by "V." And Ellie is wonderful. Just not sure the two sound good together.
Re: So, I think DH and I picked a name, What do you think?

I like Virginia, especially the nn Ginny.
Personally I would choose something more formal than Ellie for the mn. Maybe Eleanor. Ellie just sounds nicknamey to me.
as soon as i read this, i immediately thought of your DH playing "meet virginia" by train during your L&D.
i like the name though. it's classic and feminine. not big on the middle name though- sounds nick-namey.

These are my thoughts on the matter. They just don't match.
ditto.
Ellie would be fine as a nickname for a longer "El" name, but not as a middle name.
super cute and classic, I love it
Sounds hillbilly to me. Not my style - but if you like it that's what matters.
