After sitting down and talking with DH, we've decided to put a hold on TTC for a while. Possibly permanently. While putting it on hold due to broken foot, I (out of infinite boredom) had to discover a life outside my ute. This led to pony #1:
This is Kyrian, a 3 year old Clydesdale/Gypsy Vanner cross with a heart of pure gold. She's in the middle of 30 days of professional training, and enjoying her new pampered barn life.
After getting her settled into her new barn, I started *gasp* talking to people and discovering a social life again. I didn't realize how much I missed hanging out with people, and talking about normal things. New barn also led me to pony #2:
Meet Friday, a 4 year old National Show Horse (Saddlebred/Arabian cross). We're aiming for Arabian sport-horse nationals in 2013. For those of you who've seen the movie "Up", imagine Doug's personality inside a horse's body. That's Friday.
For the first time in four years, my depression isn't controlling my life. DH and I sat down and really talked about where we're at, and both of us are sick of the TTCAL stress. We know we want another child eventually, but we're committed to getting ourselves (and our marriage) back to the healthy place it was when we started TTC. Since deciding to focus on us, the kids we have, and the horses, things have improved dramatically for us. We're a happy, functional (well, mostly) family again. Life isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better.
Thanks for being understanding of my absence, I had a lot to sort through and some very hard decisions to make. We'll take up TTC again eventually, if/when we're both fully ready to deal with that reality. We've talked adoption, but admittedly, we wouldn't be making that decision for the right reasons at this point. That's another thing to revisit another day.
Re: An update on me...
I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were doing. I'm really glad that you and DH have been doing well and are feeling good about this decision. I love your new ponies.
Please come back and visit us often. We like you.
