How do you spend your down time with LO?

As a FTM, I am constantly questioning how I am spending my time with LO, particularly between feedings and diaper changes. Do you "play" with your LO at this point? I sometimes will read her a book or will put her on her activity mat and move her legs and feet around while I sing as though she's dancing. Other times, I just hold her and I try to talk to her a fair bit, giving her a running commentary on what's going on or what we're going to do next.

Other than that, what should I be doing? When she's just lying quietly in her Pack and Play, I feel badly but also feel so grateful for the peace that I feel reluctant to disturb her. Also, how long do you let LO lay quietly so that you can get other things done (you know, like showering, washing dishes, answering the phone, etc).?

We have a Tiny Love crib developmental mobile. C is obsessed with it. But we also do the things you mention, plus walks. I'm a big fan of the sling for baby wearing around the house.

I usually just hold LO, do tummy time, or take him in DD's room to "play" with us. DD really likes this and tries to read to LO and interacts with him a lot. If he is laying peaceful in his pack and play or the swing I will let him do this while I get stuff done (dishes,shower, etc) I don't put a time limit on it and usually pick him up as soon as I finish one task

During the day when DD is awake, we do tummy time, play on the activity mat, I read and sing to her, she "plays" in different places...her bouncy seat, our bed, etc. We go for walks if it isn't too chilly. I also often wear her around the house in the Moby while I do the dishes, laundry, etc.
