I have such mixed emotions about transitioning to formula. I know there is nothing wrong with it, and I was formula fed and am healthy and smart, but I just love giving him breastmilk. I EP and it's just been too stressful. After my recent bouts with mastitis and thrush (at the same time), I finally decided to start weaning. I have a small freezer stash, so I can still give him a bottle or two of BM for a couple more weeks, but I wish it would have worked out better. He just seems to hate formula. He has reflux, so my pedi tld me to switch to Enfamil Gentlease, but the first ingredient is corn syrup and it just makes me so sad to give him that when I could give him BM if I just stopped being such a baby.
?
Ok, I'm done, just wallowing in self-pity....?
Re: sad that I'm drying up
don't beat yourself up...you did the best you could and he was able to get BM in the beginning when it's so very crucial.
The first 6 weeks are the most important for baby to get BM. After that- do whatever works for you. I had mastitis too and it sucks.
I'm worried that my supply is decreasing and we'll have to go to formula too (more because of the cost than anything else).
