am I going to regret getting DS a twin bed? and a clicky!

His room just isn't that big, and while I know we aren't staying in this house forever, I just don't want to crowd up his room with a big bed.

The trundle bed is neat but unless you have people staying over a lot and actually using it, I wouldn't spend the extra $100 for it. In this house, it would just become something else to jump on.

Jakob slept on a twin bed from ages 3 - 8 yrs. He got our queen bed last year when we upgraded to a King and I regret that. He just doesn't need a queen sized bed. He has a decent size room but it takes up too much space, a kid needs that space for dressers and toys, not a bed. We're about to get rid of it (its in pretty bad shape anyway) and get him another twin bed.

Thanks Ali! His crib converts to a full, so whenever we do move to a bigger house he can always have that if he wants a bigger bed, I just can't see it in his room right now.

We ended up replacing Em's furniture (toddler bed and dresser) from JC Penney's because the quality was TERRIBLE and started falling apart. We replaced it with the twin bed and dresser from Pottery Barn. The quality is so much better (made of wood) so the price made up for it. She loves having a big kid bed and if she wants me to lay down there with her- I don't have to squish into her bed,

I think the room being too crowded depends on how he plays.

We have a play room down stairs and the living room has a ton of toys upstairs. He doesn't have much toy wise in his room now. Our rooms or surely smaller than yours and we have a full (the crib converted) bed and the rocking recliner as well as a corner shelf in there. There is plenty of room to play cars and read books and have some toys. His dresser is in his closet which is also another play area.

If we had a twin, then both the hubs and I couldn't curl up to read books at night with him. It also wouldn't be as comfy to sleep with him when he's not feeling well.

I slept in a twin bed my whole life until after college. I am 6 feet tall. It did not bother me in the least. I liked having the floor space in my bedroom growing up. I don't think you will regret it. L will have a twin bed also. He will not be getting a full while he is here in our house.

We don't sleep in the same bed with our kids. I think a twin is fine. Both the girls rooms are fairly small and a large bed would take up much needed play space.

I knew a few people in college who had a rough time adapting to dorm life because they had a queen/king and then had to sleep in a twin! I grew up with a twin my whole life until I was 21 I think?

I like the straight lines of the PBK headboard and footboard better.

We have small bedrooms at our house, and we've gone with twin beds for both kids. So far, no regrets. We did buy a trundle and extra mattress for Meredith's bed, and I wish we hadn't. It was a PITA to pull out because we had to arrange the furniture in such a way that we could easily get it in and out, which isn't easy in a small room. We ended up using the trundle mattress for Alex's bed instead, and the trundle is just empty.

We have a full air mattress, so when Meredith has a sleepover, we'll likely let the girls sleep on that in the playroom.

so happy we have twins for the girls -- heck, one of them has my old twin even. They love having the space to play, and they both decided they wanted to share a room -- no way we could do that with bigger beds.

As for laying down with them? Not a problem. Dh and I take turns laying down with both girls in one bed and reading books at night, and while it is squished with 3 people, everyone fits. And I have successfully snuggled with them at night when they need it.

But, I also slept in twins until I was 25, so take that for what it's worth.

I have no opinion on the full vs. twin but wanted to say that I voted for the PBK bed because of the construction. The PBK one says it's hardwood, as opposed to the JCP one that is rubberwood and MDF. Seems like the PBK one is probably the better value.

PBK, all the way. DS's bunk beds are from there and I LOVE them. The quality is fantastic. We did the in-home delivery and that was awesome - the guys unloaded the boxes, put the beds together, and took all the garbage away. They were in and out in an hour. Yes Both DD and DS's cribs are/were PBK, and our bedroom set is as well and I've been nothing but satisfied with the quality.

I don't think you'll regret the twin. I went back and forth on getting DS a full or a twin, and I'm glad we just did the twin. He has a smallish room and I wanted him to have space to play in there as he gets older and wants his own space. It's big enough for DH and I to snuggle up with him and read stories.
