I bought one (VTech Innotab) for DD for Xmas, tried it out to see what it was like, and returned it. We decided to give her DH's old iPod Touch instead. The iPod (even to buy a new one) ends up being way cheaper in the long run (the games/apps are so expensive on the tablets, not to mention the batteries they eat- 4 AA's in 8 hours) plus the iPod works SOOOO much better and it will grow with her. I think these kids' tablets need some serious upgrading before they're worth the $. Just my honest opinion... iPod Touch is way more worth it.
I just bought the LeadPad for my DS last night, and I think I am going to return it. I bought it cause DS loves our iPad and iPod touch and plays certain app's really well, however I went on the LeadPad site to preview some of their apps and they just seem a little too advanced for him. The apps involve a lot of spelling & math stuff which I think is fun for older kids but not for an almost two year old who is still learning colors, numbers and letters. So as much as I loved the idea of DS having his own "iPad", it's going back. For 100.00 to basically not get full use of it right now, I'd rather wait a year and see what cool gadget they come out with next year. For now he can use our iPad.
