Oh my gosh I feel like a bum!!!!

Excercising and working out is my drug. Atleast five times a week I must workout.............Then comes baby! Oh my goodness, this first trimester is killing me! I feel like such a sluggish bum! I have to force myself to get atleast three a week in. While working out I feel like I'm dragging myself to get to the end of the workout. I try to stay focused and pump myself up, but by half of the workout I just want to lay on the mat, and just lay there, anddddd lay there! No energy at all! I pray this passes by second trimester, or me and baby are gonna be a exsausted mommy and baby, because we can't give working out up!

  • It will pass eventually.  Your body is having to make the ?oven? for your LO to bake in for 9 months and it can really drain you.  You will get reenergized as you enter your second trimester but once you get nice and roundish (for me it was at 33 weeks) you energy will leave you once again.  Just listen to your body and be sure to take your prenatal vitamins.

  • I remember when I was pregnant with my first, I thought....this should be a piece of cake. Women in the old days used to squat a baby then go & milk a cow. It just doesn't happen that way, especially not for the first.

You're tired because you're growing a person...bones, brain, heart, everything. Your energy is used for that little one. You'll get more energy in later trimesters, but you may get less comfortable because of the invasion of space.

Do what you can & don't get down on yourself if you need to cut out early or take a nap. Fatigue is expected.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, you HOT MAMA!

  • Try to enjoy the rest - you are not a bum! Then you'll enjoy your workouts even more once you are able to get back into them! I stopped running once I found out I was prego and I miss it so much! BUT for me it's nice to have a break from the more intense workouts for a while.

  • I was like this for 2 weeks then woke up and suddenly felt better for a bit. Got in a little workout and then the next day felt sick again. It's been on and off for about a week. Just try to enjoy the workouts when you have good days and lay off on your bad days. Exception was this morning I woke up sick, went to the gym sick ( I work at a gym), lazy for about an hour and just sat in the office because I was still sick, finally I just got up and changed clothes. I went to the back loaded the bar and started my workout. After I felt amazing! Ate some beef jerky and an apple and got sick lol.

It's hit and miss for all of us right now I think.

  • I feel your pain!!!  I made it through my daily training (5x/wk 2hrs/day) until Labor Day when I had a NBR complication and I pretty much could only go once or twice a week tops, then would be out...  Then one day I was picking up DD and felt something rip and it was like "much as I WANT to be at the gym, it's best that until I'm considered full term, that I just stay home for my own good"...  Ugh!!!  I'm not kidding when I say gym withdrawl SUCKS!!!

  • I'm the same way... usually my day revolves around meal plans and working out, but I just don't have the energy.  I'm slowly starting to get it back the last couple days.  I can cook and eat vegetables again.  I'm really looking forward to getting back into my workouts.

Don't feel bad about slacking a bit.  You're going to be tired.  Just do the best you can.

  • Girl you are doing more than me. I use to be an exercise junkie; 5 days a week 90 minutes a day(at least). Before I got pregnant, I was sick so that slowed me down then I didn't do it at all. I am lucky if I get thirty minutes in. You are doing well. And usually exercising at least 3 times a week, 30-45 minutes a day is good for a regular normal workout. What you described you did was very, very active. You are lucky you can do three days.
