... what would you get a tattoo of?

I have 6 tattoos already and have plans for many more. I'd like to get something to commemorate my daughter some day. I don't think I would get a portrait, I've seen enough tacky and horribly done to stay away from that. I've seen a few nice ones, but too many that have looked creepy to risk that.

I might just get something as simple as her name, 'Sloane' and maybe a pointsetta as she will most likely be born close to Christmas. I'm not sure what else I could do.

Any ideas? If you are planning on it, what would you get?

I'm really into the fantasy artist Amy Brown, so I've always wanted some sorta fairy with ivy and vines and have my kids' names intertwined in the ivy and vines. I also like the baby footprint with the baby's name and birth date.

I've been thinking about this too. J is really into westerns and I was almost thinking a baby angel in cowboy boots with his name. I saw something similar on LA Ink and it was so adorable.

When we are for sure done having kids, I want to get a vine-type tattoo across the right side of my ribs with each kid's birth month flower on it. I also want to put mine and DH's birth month flower on it too. That way I'll have a family tattoo without words or portraits.

I'm going to get something when we're done having kids, which I think will be after this one. I want to get something that means something to me, and represents the girls', plus I want to incorporate my m/c in there too, since we did see a heartbeat before I lost the baby. I'm thinking of flowers, but I don't have any real ideas yet, just thoughts running through my head.

Me too! I did a drawing inspired by her art 6 years ago that I have been waiting for the right time to get done. It'll take at least two sessions and a fair amount of money, and I need the right kind of artist to do it. I almost got it done by one of the Dutchmans tattoo artists a few years ago but didn't have the funds at the time.

My daughter was born in September of 07 so i got her name in a couple of stars because the birth flower is Aster which means star.
For this little guy I will be getting his name done in or around his birth flower as well.

Edit - My husband has a tattoo of her actual handprint with her name on his forearm and he will be getting the same done for this baby on the other arm.

I was thinking of just getting his birth date tattooed underneath my ankle on the inside of my foot. Maybe I'll have a fall leaf with it too to add a bit more decoration. I would keep it small so I could add other children to it in the future.

That's a neat idea, Coraline themed for her name!

I don't know if I would want a picture of Ferris Beulers girlfriend for Sloane though, haha.

Another idea is incorporating snowflakes. I have always wanted snowflake tattoos because I was born 3 days after Christmas and am a winter baby myself.

I was originally going to get her name beneath a very traditional seahorse, since she has the sooth & glow seahorse and her first ornament is a seahorse.

But as she's getting older, her passion seems to really be dogs. It was her first word and she spends all her time with her Doberman.. I already have a Doberman tattoo so now I'm kind of at a loss.

Ill be waiting till Heidi is a little older to plan her tattoo as well now. Tongue Tied

I personally won't be getting one but my husband is going to. He already has my lips on his wrist so since our baby is a girl, he's going to get her lips on his other wrist. I melt with mushiness everytime I think about how cute he is. Smile

Maybe footprints? I've seen that done a lot.

EDIT: Here's a picture of his first tattoo. Charlotte's kiss will be smaller.

My husband is the one who will be getting inked. He's got a Celtic cross on one of his arms. We found a Celtic knot style family tree that would match his cross perfectly, and he'd be able to add on names if we decide to expand our family further. It's just a matter of taking the time to set up an appointment to get it done.

I have a drawing DH had done for me while he was doing time. I want to get it on my ribs, extending around to my back.. Its a red rose with a blue butterfly landing on it. I would like to get a butterfly for each child with their initials and bday on/around it and then eventually one for each grandkid (depending on how old a wrinkly I am by the :P)
