Period Cramps??

I have been having period like cramps this morning..never felt this with my son..what is going on?

    Not sure but I've been getting them too. I was hopingi it meant something is getting ready to happen

    I have has them off and on for about two weeks
    b/w=FSH 15.6, AMH 0.4 surprise natural BFP on 3/12/11
    DS born via unplanned C-section at 40w6d

    With DD my early contractions felt like period cramps.  If my water hadn't already broken (before any contractions started) I wouldnt have even known they were contractions.  I would have thought they were gas pains or something.

    I get them on and off, too.  Not sure they mean a whole lot.  My doc says they are just part of the whole process...I think the help force the cervix open.

    Dr said the same thing.  A real contraction feels like period cramps and they help things along compared to an uncomfortable Braxton hicks that doesn't do much except make us think something is wrong lol.

    I'm a FTM but I've been getting them a lot the last two weeks and when my doctor checked me on Thursday I was 80% effaced.  She said I was that far along because of the cramps, so it sounds like they're a good thing!
