Places for 3 estrogen patches at once and reapplying?

Happy Saturday morning ladies!

After ET, my RE instructed me to wear 3 estradiol patches, changing the patches every 72 hours.  The first time, I wore all three on my lower abdomen.  The pamphlet says not to reapply in the same spot.  The trouble is that the alternative spot is roughly where I get the progesterone injections, so they can't go there.

Did you reapply to the same spot?  I'm really not sure what else to do.  If I reapply too close to my waistline in the back, the waist of my pants will probably disturb the patches.  Ughh.  Any thoughts?

  • Happy Saturday to you as well! :)

I start my patches (Vivelle) tomorrow... I only have to use 2 @ a time, but RE told me that anywhere on the abdomen is fine. I plan on rotating left, right, & then lower... Hope that helps!

  • I can put the patches anywhere on my "trunk" according to the package. I usually alternate above my bellybutton, my mid-back, and my sides. I never put them on my lower abdomen because that's where my shots were.

  • Hope it's ok if I respond.

Ever since ER I've been wearing 2 vivelle dot patches and changing them every other day.  My nurse told me to put them anywhere on my lower "trunk"; front/back didn't matter.  I've worn them on my back, on my sides, on the front, higher, lower, etc.

I have a very hard time getting the adhesive off around the edges of where the patches are, so that helps me remember where I've applied them recently.

    Good luck!

ETA: I believe my directions said to not put patches in the exact same spot within a week...so I've definitely used the same spots before, I've just made sure it's been at least a week.

  • I tried reapplying the patches to my abdomen and OUCH, my belly stung so bad! It started getting really red and itchy. I took the Alora estrodial patch and the pamplet said I could put it on my hip area. So I would put two on each hip. I have reapplied several times to this area and it is not red or sore. I guess the area beneath the belly button is vey sensitive.

    Good luck!
