Jersey needs a middle name

Hey Mommies and Mommies to Be-

We have decided on the name Jersey for our daughter, due 3/6/12. But we cannot find a middle name that we like. My middle name is Nicole, and that is our back-up plan, but I really want something that I love. Any suggestions? Our last name is Holeman.

Maybe those are YOUR insecurities. Every name has something or some way to be made fun of...but we believe that if you raise a child to feel loved and confident, being called a "Jersey Cow" will be something she (and us) will laugh off. Just like this comment.

I really think you need to rethink this. It's not about us being mean to you. You asked for opinions. This is what your daughter is going to come up against every day of her life. You're naming a PERSON not a calf. She's going to be a grown woman one day and have to put her name on resumes. Please reconsider!

I don't know, I kinda like it! Jersey is a cute first name! Just like many kids these days have alternative styles for names. My daughter goes to school with a "London" a "Brooklyn" an "Austin" and a "Denver". I think it is becoming common to name children unique names, and many times after locations. I like it! Don't worry about what others think, name your child what ever you and your hubby like! I also know a "Zella" a "Viloa" a "Sevilla" all in one family! They are beautiful girls! We even know a child named "Baby-doll!" Also, interestingly, I also know a boy named, your last name, "Holeman!" Maybe its because I live in Northern California, but different names are very common in the Bay area! I love that your name is different. As far as middle names, I don't see what is wrong with Nicole. Were the other posters trying to say it sounds like cow? If so, I didn't draw that assumption at all. Maybe I am having a blond day... but I don't get where that correlation came from... ??? Anyway, I also like Jersey Anne or Jersey Lynn or Jersey Marie, or Jersey La Rae (that is my middle name).... Just some thoughts... Keep your chin up, I think everyone was just trying to be honest so try and keep a sense of humor about the digs. Congrats on your pregnancy!

If you are going to choose a name that is not a typical name, or even technically a name, then you have to be ready to hear opinions about it. Especially when you put your self out there on a board asking us what we think. And we are just saying this to you, cause you have the option of changing it.. your poor daughter will not. If you think we are being mean, just wait til the kids get a hold of her at school. Yes all names can be teased. But some more than others. Very more than others.

What if you were to use Jersey as a middle name with a cute first name? Maybe Hockey Jersey?

But I think if you want it as a first name you definitely have options.

If it is a name you are happy with, just go with it! And honestly, when she is in school who is going to remember Jersey Shore, they'll be a bunch of washed up reality tv stars. I'd go with a middle name that she could also use as her name if she wanted as she got older. And I like Jersey Nicole. Or have you thought about it as a middle name at all? Last suggestion, a middle name with a J and her nickname can be JJ?

Just ideas. Sorry you've been getting some negative feedback. I think ultimately you need something you'll be happy with and that you think your daughter will love. I mean seriously, stars name their kids all kinds of weird *** like Apple, you think they really care what everyone else thinks?
