Hi everyone!
I just found out this week that I'm pregnant (4 weeks) and I am so excited, it's my first time so all is new and it has quite sunk in yet. We are so lucky, we have only been trying for 3 months so I can't believe it's happening already, YAY ![]()
My husband and I want to wait a few weeks before we tell our parents, but I'm looking for original and fun ways to announce our big news to them. Any ideas? How did you break the news?
Thanks and congrats to all future mummies ![]()
Re: Ideas to share the news?
Last time we bought presents. For DH parents (since they live around the corner), we bought a "Grandpa" Tshirt for his dad and a pair of "booty" earrings for his mom. We wrapped them. We included the positive pregnancy test (one of them - with the pee strip cut off because that's just gross) in his moms. It was fun watching their expressions as they opened the presents.
For my parents we did something similar but we sent it in the mail with instruction "open together".
We did shirts for my parents. I was hoping it would work because even though my sister already has two kids, they were grandparent t-shirts specific to the university where DH and I met, got our degrees and where I continue to work. My family still comes to football games and other university events, so we're pretty involved here and I thought it would distinguish them specifically as UNT grandparents. My dad and sister got it right off the bat, but it took a minute for my mom and step-mom. But it was still fun.
Welcome to the July 2012 club!
Welcome and congrats!
We told my parents about DD on mothers day. We got a cake that said "happy grandma day" and hid it until we were ready. She didn't catch on and thought we should get our money back for the wrong cake. It was funny.
This time, I'm making DD a "promoted to big sister, July 2012" shirt and including a picture of her wearing it in our Christmas cards. I'll be about 11 weeks when they are sent so it's decent timing.
Have fun thinking of ideas!!
We are telling my parents this weekend. We are making a calendar, and putting photos in it through June of us and my sister's kids/family. Then for July, We will put a picture of us holding the stick, then an up close of a digital for the second picture. Underneath I wrote "Congratulations Grandma and Grandpa!" and on our due date in the calendar part - "We're having a baby!!"
I'm going to give it to them, make them look at it together, and tell them I was just playing around and wanted to try making it. We're doing it through CVS who will do it in an hour. I think it will be fun!
