I just had my DD#2 via rcs on Friday, 11/4. I notice that a lot of people ask, on this board, how a planned rcs compares to an unplanned c/s and thought I would take a few minutes to share my personal experience, while it is still fresh in my mind. Overall, my rcs was an infinately better experience than my DD#1's birth. The delivery itself was better primarily because of my new OB. Having an awsome dr really makes a huge difference! Also, I had the spinal this time which was (for me) MUCH better than the epi. It started to wear off about an hour after the surgery and I could wiggle my toes. Less than two hours later I could feel my legs enough to lift them off the bed a bit. I was up and walking much sooner than with my previous c/s and felt much less pain in recovery. The gas cramping hit me the day after the surgery and that was pretty bad but my incision pain was much less and as long as I was able to pass gas, that kept the cramping at bay. Getting up and moving helped to pass gas as well. I was discharged on Sunday (2 days after surgery) and have been doing great at home. I actually feel like I could do a lot more than I am but DH is afraid I'm going to overdo it so he's not letting me do too much. After DD#1 was born I was a wreck for about 3 weeks and really could not even enjoy her. This time around, I am feeling better 3 days after surgery than I was at 3 weeks last time. DH is off work for a week and it is so nice to be able to actually enjoy this time with him and my girls. Good luck to all of you! I hope your deliveries are as smooth as mine was and wish you all speedy recoveries.

rcs=repeat c-section
thanks for your positive recovery story! i have a rcs scheduled for next week and while my 1st experience wasn't traumatic or terrible, i have been hoping the 2nd time around would be a little easier with recovery.
