I was expecting my period around 11/2, got a BFP 11/5, started spotting 11/7 which progressed to heavy bleeding and severe cramping along with passing clots that are nothing like a normal period. I wasn't checked out until 11/9 and by that time the doctor said my hcg level was at a 2 which is barely pregnant. So I was wondering is it possible for hcg levels to be back down to non pregnant soon after miscarriage. It has been a horrible week, and It was so frustrating when the doctor was like, Hey you're not pregnant! Oh but you did have a positive test at home? well ok,then if is possible you may have have had an early miscarriage. I know they see a lot of patients but to me this has been a traumatic week for someone to act like its not a big deal and may have been nothing. I took a digital first response hpt, I doubt it was wrong. its amazing how badly this affects you even early on. I got to be happy for 3 days, which has turned into non stop crying.
Re: How long does it take for hcg to drop after miscarriage?
If your hcg was a 2 then you can expect it to be zero very soon if it's not already. The time it takes to get to 0 varies widely and depends on so many factors: how far along, what your levels were to begin with, if the miscarriage is complete (meaning if all the tissue was passed), and just you as an individual. But I feel very optimistic that you are so close to zero already. Many doctors simply test to make sure you're below 5 and don't worry after that.

Your story sounds very similar to when I had a chemical pregnancy. I am not an OB or anything but sure seems like you might have had a Chemical pregnancy since your HCG levels were so low. During a Chemical pregnancy the hormone just produce enough HCG to give you a positive pregnancy and doesnt continue to increase. When I started bleeding it wasnt actually me misscarring but me starting my period. (this all happened with in a week just like yours) If that is the case you can start TTC after you have your next AF. She should have been more informative with you and explained to you exactly what kind of MC you were having. No kind of MC should be taken littely like that. I know you are suffering my friend.
I would get more information from you doctor. I am sorry you have to go through this. I hope that you get to start trying again soon.
