Last year my BIL and his then fiance gave me a pair of slippers that they bought for $3.48 on clearance . . . they left the price tag on. I just thought - why did they even bother?
Okay, this was a birthday gift, but it's so bad that I had to share. I had been on a kick of watching an episode of COPS every once and a while. More as a guilty pleasure than anything I would want to own on DVD for posterity!

DH and I usually don't exchange gifts and if we do, my gift is something that I went to the store and purchased for myself and probably wrapped if the store didn't offer wrapping.
But, we and our friends (3 couples) get together and have a "gift exchange" of all the crappy gifts we've received from family/friends that year. For instance, one year DH received a blue crystal wine bottle topper with our last name initial engraved on it, our friend received vibrating slippers, his wife received kitchen towels from the dollar store with big roosters on them, and I received a tiny stocking filled with Bit O Honeys. We exchanged those gifts, drank wine/beer, and had dinner. That is our holiday tradition. Luckily I have a wacky aunt who gives sh!tty gifts and our friends have family that does the same.

It really is so much fun. This is the one "party" I look forward to every year. We laughed so hard at those vibrating slippers that tears were streaming down our faces.

Re: Poll: Gifts
I usually like gifts that I get.

Last year? Or maybe the year before, I can't remember, H bought me 3 DVDs. That he wanted. Not one that I wanted.
I tore him a new one.

LMAO. Maybe you'll get a cordless phone this year :-)
I can only hope.
