looks to the left

Does anyone else's LO's primarily prefer to look to one side?? DS's head is mostly turned to the left.  He will look all the way around, but when he's sleeping or being held or on his changing table, it's always to the left.  I try to make sure all activities take place on the right and I will turn his head when I can to stretch out those muscles.  Any other tricks I can do?

Re: looks to the left

  • DS always looks to the right. Now that he has good head control I carry him on my left hip a lot, and since he wants to look forward in the direction we are going, he turns his head to the left. I'd be more comfortable with him on the right, but at least this way I know he's using those muscles a bit too.

  • We are actually starting physical therapy soon because DD has a strong preference for looking to the right. She can absolutely look both ways, so luckily the muscles are developed; she just prefers her right. We're working on getting more tummy time in to help with this, and like I said, starting physical therapy so that it doesn't turn into a bigger problem.
