Cloth Diapering

Coconut oil ?

I've heard some people use coconut oil directly on the bum for rashes or dry skin, would this require a liner or is it safe for CD? I know it's used in some cloth wipe solutions too so that must be ok, just wasn't sure about a direct application to the bum. Anyone know about this?

TIA! Smile

Re: Coconut oil ?

  • I use it on my DD's butt. It doesn't hurt the dipes at all. Thats why people use it for a diaper cream and in the wipes solution.

  • I've used it off and on for the past 6 months with no problems. Be smarter than me and put a bit in a container for butt use. That way you can use the rest to cook with. The jar I have for LO will last us years at this rate.
  • This is probably a silly question but I wonder about it every time someone posts about coconut oil - I use a coconut oil from my local health store and it's made for topical use. I assume this is just as CD safe as the other? (It is pure coconut oil.)

  • We use it a bunch and no issued here :) I'm even putting a small container in my diaper bag soon (when I remember)!

  • We use it without a liner with no issues.  I have a small container in DS' bedroom but I need to put some in the diaper bag too.  Thankfully he rarely has a diaper rash or anything.
