Maya was born Monday October 31, 2011 at 10:11pm after only 2 hours of labour.
First let me go back 6 days to Wednesday - my blood pressure spiked to a dangerous level so Dr. decided to begin induction process. So for 6 days straight I went to the hospital at 9am did a 1 hour NST then was "checked" for progress and because each day NONE had been made, each day I was given another round of cervadil.
On Monday I went to the hospital at 9am, no progress - no dialation, no effacing etc.. 6th round injected behind cervix. Handed out Halloween candy and then doubled over in pain by 8pm. Made my husband take me to the hospital. They checked me and I was only 1.5 cm dialated. At 9:00pm they gave me a shot of morphine to take the edge off as I waited. They scheduled me for a 10:50pm c-section as I had had so many doses of cervadil and nothing seemed to be happening naturally. At 9:45 I was screaming in pain in the bathroom and noticed I was starting to bleed. My husband call for the nurse she said lets check to see what is going on.
Her next comment was "You're having your baby now, No one is going to believe this" I was 10cm dialated and my baby was crowning. Mad rush was on - set up a birthing suite, get the Dr. in the room etc.... 8 pushes later and I delivered a very healthy 8lb 1oz beautiful little girl. I had a very minor tear requiring 2 stitches.
The nurses that were checking on us since delivery all commented on the quickness of my progress, I'm sure it will go down in their books as something memorable - certainly was for me.
