Re: Health & Wellness Check-In

  • Pretty good weight wise and exercise-wise....not so great in food choices. I have lost about 9# since October 1.  My healthy breakfast is 1 egg, 1 egg white, veggies, salsa on a 1 pt english muffin with a tablespoon of feta.

  • I haven't posted in this thread before (at least not that I can remember), but I'm going to try to make myself participate because... I went to the doctor last week (for bronchitis) and was SHOCKED (truly shocked-- I am not being facetious) to find out that I am 25 lbs heavier than I thought I was. WHAT?!!! I'm wearing all the same clothes I was 25 lbs ago (though I suppose they are a little tighter), so I guess I didn't realize I was packing on the pounds. UGH. I am so, so annoyed with myself. Time to get serious about losing weight.

To that end, I've been working hard to make better choices ever since I found out. I know what I need is really a wholesale overhaul of my eating and (nonexistent) exercise routines, but I'm starting small.

  • It's going...  I'm trying to make better food choices but I stopped doing Zumba, I really need to get back to exercising.

My favorite healthy breakfast is definitely steel cut oats, the mix in options are endless.

  • Thiswillbe, that's CRAZY! Indifferent The body can be so strange.

I did better this week. Much less sugar, more veggies, and I've worked out 3x. I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger and start the P90X cycle over again on Monday - with no gym membership and no race to train for, it would be very easy for me to just stop exercising altogether, and I don't want to do that. My sanity and self-esteem deserves better :)

We're having a health fair next week and I signed up to have metabolic testing done. I know from seeing an endocrinologist that I don't have any abnormalities that show up through bloodwork, but this is different - it gives you a ballpark range of how many calories you burn at rest during a normal day. I know it's not totally accurate, but I think it will be interesting to get an idea.

  • I'm still doing my juicing, still feeling amazing, still losing weight. I had a session with a new personal trainer last night with a focus on mindfulness and using your body differently. It was very challenging and rewarding and I'm looking forward to putting them into practice and going again on Sunday afternoon.

My favorite breakfast was usually a steamed or poached egg with some spinach and sometimes some cheese (feta, sharp cheddar). I also really love spinach smoothies, which may be more my speed after my transition back. I also want to try soaked crockpot oats.

  • This week is going well.  October was pretty stressful and I went about 6 lbs over my goal weight, so I'm focusing on losing that so I can have a "legal" weigh in before Thanksgiving.  I've been eating well and back to running regularly.  It's nice to feel back in control.

My favorite go-to breakfast is homemade muesli.  I mix together some rolled oats, cinnamon, sliced almonds, raisins and a little maple syrup with yogurt or milk and stick it in the fridge overnight.  In the morning I mix in half a grated apple.  LOVE.  We also eat a lot of steel-cut oats with dried fruit, or eggs with toast.
