i used to be a habitual waxer. my lady is brazilian and does the most painless brazilian ever! BUT i got one at like 10 weeks and it hurt like a ***! it had never hurt like that before. i got lazy and stopped going. i tried shaving at about 20 weeks and couldn't see a damn thing.
i know it is bad news bears down there and it makes me feel not very sexy (on top of everything else that doesn't help!) so i am going back to the waxer today. i am going to take some tylenol first but i am prepared for 2 things, a lecture on how long it as been and pain pain pain!
i also figure that things will be decent for labor in 4-5 weeks too, not bare but not overgrown so i thought it was a good time.
anyone else lady scaping before labor??
Re: getting a wax after work... pray for me.
You are definitely braver than I am! I've avoided going while pregnant because I've heard it hurts like a mofo.
I've still been getting my legs done, and I haven't noticed any increased sensitivity with that, but obviously, legs aren't the same as ripping hair from your swollen, blood-filled vajayjay lol. Me scared!
I've almost given up on trying to just shave it because I can't see a damn thing and the mirror doesn't really help at all. I'm trying to focus on keeping it trimmed and tidy. I would feel weird going into labour with a baldy....I would be embarrassed that the doctors and nurses thought I did it for them. I think 4 weeks is a good amount of time for it to be short and tidy and not all 'Hey everyone! I just got a brazilian!"
Good luck

I've never had a wax....and I would definitely be scared to do it now during pregnancy
LOL
I do, however, keep trim now that I can't easily access it with my razor. I took some advice from a someone in a thread a while ago: to maintain with a personal trimmer. It does wonders for me - I don't get the irritation I do with shaving (and lets face it...shaving is NOT pretty when you can't see anything)...and it looks pretty damn tidy after a close trim up (I use a mirror to help me navigate as much as possible lol)... I definitely feel better after!
GOOD LUCK with your appointment!!!!

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WONT tell him! hehehe
BAHAHAHA that's actually a GREAT idea!
I won't tell your DH if you don't tell mine
LMAO I won't tell... because I'm doing the same thing
I actually did nair, then finish with shaving this past Monday for my appt... Yep, last time I will be doing that! I will let it grow and trim it with DF's trimmer from now on.
I tried to give myself a brazillian once. Let me just say if any of you are considering it, make sure you can wrap both legs around your head and have a batman sized spotlight first. It wasn't so much painful as downright...messy. I haven't waxed since and probably never will. I am not comfortable with anyone but my doctors viewing my vagina that up close and personal.
However, since I feel like my vagina is going to be center stage real soon I have been pondering WTD about the landscaping down there.
Should I shave? Wax? All-natural? I feel kinda bad, i don't want my son born in a jungle. God forbid he has a pube on his forehead in his very first picture. I don't know what to do. Normally, I go all natural with a little trim to keep it from looking too wild down there. But bald makes me feel like a child or some kind of pornstar wannabe....
O..M..F..G!!!! I literally LMAO for about 10 mins straight at your entire comment, but ESPECIALLY the bolded xD
Thanks for makin my day!!!!!!!

I've been getting brazilians every 4 weeks so that it stays easy-ish until the one right before labor. I do sugaring though, not wax, since wax left my hyper sensitive skin covered in a red rash for days. Sugaring never leaves any wax behind (dissolves in water) and doesn't bother my skin.
On pain: My first trimester it hurt more, second and early third no biggie. BUT last time I went in to see my usual girl ( 30 weeks) and ouch! It hurt. But it lasts like 20 mins MAX. I see it as preparation for birth pain, I just practice relaxing the whole time. Plus it doesn't hurt after and I LOVE how clean it leaves me.
Going in tomorrow for my 36 week wax, expect to have a little eye watering at that one. Wish me luck too!
BTW I did this for my first labor also, and ended up going into my labor 3 days after my last wax (that I got at 39 weeks),I really loved being clean after labor. When the hair grows back after waxing it's also super soft so it doesn't itch, which is a problem with shaving for me. So I'd recommend it to any ladies with sensitive skin, esp sugaring. I can't imagine healing from birth AND being irritated by stubble!
Same here... going from memory & touch. Takes a little longer than it used to, but works like a charm for me. Plus saves a ton of $ compared to waxing!!
I got one a few weeks ago and honestly it wasn't any worse as the pregnancy progressed. I think a wax in my first trimester might have been the worst.
Also they just raised the top part of the table so my torso was propped up - like they do for ultrasounds or nsts. The girl had it set up that way - seems like they had done super-preggos plenty of times before
I go regularly - every 6 weeks. My next appointment is after 37 weeks since I didn't want it to be crazy down there, but also wanted it to start growing back somewhat before labor just in case I end up needing some stitches, etc.
At my spa, they are used to waxing pregnant women, and they just have you lie on your left side for the Brazilians for easier hair removal along the back. They also sit you up so you're not flat on your back for the front. My wax in the first trimester hurt SO bad that I couldn't even let them finish, but since then it hasn't been any more painful than normal... here's hoping that stays the same for the next one!
