C-sections

Second babies

A couple of my good friends have decided ahead of time(before they are even pregnant with their second) that a c-section is easier and all their kids are gonna be born this way. There is not much I can say to that but I'm annoyed that individuals think that the C-section is the main option.

Re: Second babies

  • Did they have c/s with their first babies?

  • I don't really understand why you would come to the c-section board to vent about people who want c-sections. If they think c-sections are "easier", that's their choice (albeit misinformed) to make. I don't get how someone else's birth plan affects you. I couldn't care less about who of my friends wants a natural birth, an epi, a c-section. Not your business.

  • I agree with PP...why would you come here to complain about c-sections when all of us have had them or are going to have them??  Did I choose to have a c-section with my first...no.  Since it is hospital policy not to do VBAC's my choice...no but I have no qualms or regret my decision to do so in any way.  It was the way "I" was meant to give birth and I have healthy kids despite not having a baby the "natural" way.  Not your choice...not your decision.  Get over it.

  • I agree with the PPs. Do I get a choice in my delivery? Nope. So I say that it's easier to have a c/s to cope with the fact that I can never deliver vaginally. Do my friends judge me for that? Nope

  • I'm just curious as to whether these friends had c-sections previously or not.  THe office I go to doesn't offer vbacs, but even if they did, I'm in no way interested even if I were a good candidate for one.  Why?  Because the 32 excruciating hours I was in labor before they called for a c-section were terrible, and a c-section was a much, much better experience than those hours.

  • After 24 hours of labor, they had to break my  water stretch me to a 2cm and STILL not dropping, all the while heart rate dropping with every contraction had to have emergency c-sec just to find out he wrapped around his neck shoulder AND leg.  Wish i could have had natural birth but that's not what he wanted!!  So I say sometimes maybe its not really up to them, and its definelty not your choice and shouldnt judge your friends on THEIR choice, IMO.
