XP: 3:30 am requests for breakfast?

DD woke at 3:30 crying and repeatedly asking for milk and breakfast. I gave her some water, which settled her for a bit, but 30 minutes later, she was up asking for the same things. I finally gave in and got her up for the day at 4:30 when she still wouldn't go back to sleep.

WWYD if this happened again tomorrow? DS hardly ate until he turned three, so even if he had been as verbal as DD is, he wouldn't ever have done this. I certainly don't want DD to be starving at night, but also don't want a 3:30 wakeup for food every day either.

  • Hopefully it was a one-time thing. If it keeps happening, can you offer her a small snack before bed?

  • Around 13/14 months (I think, it's fuzzy now) DD went through a phase where she woke up in the middle of the night, every night, for a week or two and was just ready to play and start her day.  Usually she would be up for 2 hours and fall back asleep.  She eventually grew out of it, but boy was that an exhausting period.  I would come downstairs with her, put on Kid Songs (the one kids DVD I had) and try to keep awake while she was playing with toys or dancing to the music.
