Bad Morning Sickness Ladies

So...

Who had morning sickness with their first, and then even worse with their second?  When did it go away?

With DS, I had it until about 17 weeks.  This time, I am over 23 weeks and it is still kicking.  It isn't like the first tri where I threw up several times a day.  Right now, I am down to only mornings and an occasional night time session.  It is worse when I do not get a good night's sleep.  Blah.  I keep thinking that it is gone because I get a couple of good days.  Then, BAM! I am running to the bathroom.

  • I had m/s very bad with my second. My ob told me that after 20 weeks, it shouldn't be an issue anymore and they were going to start testing me for other problems if it didn't go away. It did at 22 weeks. Is it possible you have hyperemesis gravidarum? I would bring it up to your ob, good luck!

  • I had m/s until 20-21 weeks (maybe a bit later?) with my first and then on and off the whole time with my 2nd :( I'm sorry that's probably not the answer you wanted! I did have a good stretch in late 2nd-early 3rd tri with #2 though but towards the end I was pretty sick again. I'm sick with this one too but I'm hoping 3rd time is my easiest and it won't last as long as last time.

Zofran is my BFF for sure.

  • I too had it with DS1 and a lot worse with DS2.  I did find it got a lot worse if I ate anything with acid in it - spaghetti sauce, etc.  it really sucks.  I ate a lot of Preggie Pops.  Sorry you're dealing with this.
  • It helps to know that I am not alone.

I don't think that I have hyperemesis gravidarum.  I saw my OB yesterday and talked about my m/s.  Right now, it just sucks.  I don't throw up more than 2-3 times a day and some days I don't throw up at all.  (During the 1st tri, I had a stretch where I threw up over 15 times in a 24 hour period.)  I am able to eat.  I am gaining the appropriate amount of weight.  I also don't have the 24/7 nausea anymore.

I keep my zofran with me.  I don't take it every day like I used to, so I figure that is an improvement.

It is all part of the blessing.  Stick out tongue

  • I dont have it as bad as you, but my 2nd was SO much worse than my first. I thought #1 was bad, until I got pg with #2. My all day sickness with her lasted 5 weeks longer than with my first. Now I am 8 weeks today and havent thrown up yet (knock on wood) but I take zofran every morning and today I felt the worst..even on the zofran. I hate this part, with 2 toddlers its so hard, I want to climb in bed.

I hope yours goes soon, so sorry for you!
