I've been thinking of getting DS a rocking horse for Christmas (or birthday, as he is a Christmas Eve baby). We visited my cousin this weekend, and she had her (now teenage) son's rocking horse displayed in her family room. It made me think that it would be nice to have a classic toy like that to pass down. As much as I like the toys with all the bells and whistles, the FP activity table just isn't going to make it through the generations.
Of course, part of me wonders if DS will really enjoy a rocking horse...or if I am just caught up in the potential nostalgia!
Re: Classic toys
Oh I love that idea! I might just have to steal it.
But seriously, classic toys are classic because they're tried and true. I can't see how it could go wrong to have a rocking horse, if only for decoration. I might be caught up in the nostalgia too, but I bet your DS will love it.
I remember a metal(tin?) toy car that my dad and uncle used to play with that I loved getting my hands on as a child at my grandparents'. Some things do stand the test of time.
