Dr Opsahl leaving SRM???

My husband and I met with Dr Opsahl at the Kirkland SRM branch this past spring and decided that when we had the money to move forward with IVF we would be going to him.  Well, I just got a letter from SRM explaining that Dr Opsahl was leaving the practice but they had other doctors that would be happy to work with us.

I originally decided to meet with him because of all the wonderful things I read about him on these boards. What would YOU do? Work with a different doctor from the same office or go interview some one else? And does anyone know where Dr Opsahl will be going?

Thanks for helping me put with this ladies. I expect to be ready to move forward with our IVF in January so I'd like to get this figured out ASAP so we're ready.

TTC since April 2010 - Me: 26, Hypothyroidism, no other issues - DH: 28, Severe MFI - IVF w/ ICSI in our future, trying to come up with the $20,000 first - OOP sucks :-P - * SAIF Always Welcome * Anniversary

Re: Dr Opsahl leaving SRM???

  • WOW!! I didn't know this. I worked primarily with Dr Kennedy (as well as Opsahl) and loved her! After having my baby, we went back to see her. We got the impression that they weren't happy about the details of the merger with SRM (neither are DH & I to be honest). If I were in your shoes, I'd go meet Dr Kennedy and/or try to learn where Opsahl  is going.

He has a blog. Wonder if he'd mention it in there. It might be tied to the clinic though since it was/is linked from their site.

This is disappointing news. We're going to go back for help if we need it for #2.

  • We went to Dr. Davis through SRM; I believe she works between the Bellevue and Seattle office and loved her!  We went on to have a successful first round IVF!  I would definitely go back to her if we go through this again in the future.
  • We also went to Dr. Davis at SRM and were very happy with her. We also got pregnant our first IVF round.
  • That is sad. He did a couple of my U/S when I was bleeding and thought we were miscarrying...

I went with Dr. Thyer at SRM. She was fantastic. She works out of Bellevue and Seattle.

  • The Dr.s and lab at SRM have gotten me pregnant so far with my IVF, and I am pretty happy with having gone there. I have interacted with Dr. Davis (HSG), Dr. Kennedy (egg retrieval), Dr. Soules (embryo transfer), in addition to my primary-- Dr. Dudley. I prefer seeing my primary when I can, but all the others have been just fine. It is kind of a team approach at SRM as you can see by all the Dr.s I have seen. That may not be for everyone.
