Do you still compare your baby..

Or are you pretty much over that now?

  • I'm over it, but my cousin is not I guess.  She is always like "OMG your baby is sooo big!" probably bc her little girl is a peanut.

  • Over it after I saw that she eventually rolled over lol. However, I do get jealous when I take her to her kindermusik and I see the other one year olds running around. She is trying to stand without holding on and she falls many times or screams histerically...so I can't wait to get over that phase lol
  • I'm over it.  Cooper was the last to sit up on his own and pretty much the last to crawl but now he is walking?!?!  I'm just realizing that babies go at their own pace.

  • not gonna lie, i still like knowing what my friends babies are doing, just to see if we're on track or not...i can't keep up with a lot of that stuff. no one brings stuff up to be like "mine does this, can yours?" but it's fun to get the kiddos together & just see how different they are. there are a 2 kids we hang out with on a pretty regular basis & p is a few weeks younger than one of them & then 3 months younger than the other. they're both running circles around him but he's been waving & clapping & they're just starting to. so we don't do it to see who's ahead but it's fun to see them interact. it's also nice to have their mom's support or advice if we're working on a particular skill (crawling seemed to take 2mns for p).

  • I guess I sort of do. I was so proud of DS yesterday at the library sing along thing, because not only was he the cutest baby ( obviously, lol.) ... But he was doing all the same stuff as the 13 month olds etc.. He was crawling everywhere, making friends. I don't know if I was really competitive about it though, more like observant and proud of him because he used to be so shy.

  • I'm over it as in I don't stress over when Simon starts doing things, but I'm not going to lie- I think he's a baby genius and I get all puffed up and proud inside when I see him doing just about anything. I do my best not to ever say anything though, because I don't want to be "that" mom.

  • Nah, I'm done w/ that.  LO has been a late bloomer when it comes to crawling and cutting teeth, and I am fine with it.  My H is pushing hard for one and done, so the longer she stays my little baby, the better!  Every day her hair gets longer and she gets bigger and I am a little sad to see her infancy leave and toddlerhood approach.  However, to be fair, she is also getting more and more fun with each and every day.  So it's bittersweet.
  • At daycare, LO seems to be 'behind' the other babies in the room, but I've noticed with him that he pays careful attention to two babies who are walking now. He did the same thing before he started crawling. Did a lot of watching and kept trying it at home. His teachers tell me he pays attention to everything.

I try not to compare him. He's an individual and will progress at this own pace. DH keeps reminding me that LO is technically born 3 weeks early, so I shouldn't even pay mind to others his age. It's hard to keep yourself from comparing when other moms probe when asking why he isn't doing ABC and then wonder if a) I'm not doing enough with him or b) something may be wrong with him. That alone makes me all kinds of stabby.
