Pregnant after 35

Any big families out there?

Most all of you lovely ladies on this board (and most all boards) only have one to two kids, maybe three. I am a bit of a sore thumb, you know? Any ladies out there with a big family? This board is awesome, but I was hoping to find someone with a similar situation. No one knows what it's like to go out and get asked if you own a TV all the time! Seriously, that happens! If only people knew that they weren't the only one saying that that day!  :)

  • You are not alone. This is our 4th child. Our oldest is biological, but our middle two are adopted from the foster system. Baby #4 is a complete surprise, but we are delighted, because we both feel that we are not done having kids. We were planning to foster again, in the hopes we would adopt again, before this little guy! And we most likely will do so in the future. I am not hanging up my Mommy hat any time soon! I'll be 39 shortly after our son in born, but despite that I still feel if we have another child, that it would be a blessing. Yeah for big families! :)
  • It's so nice to hear from you both! I do love my big family and I am sure that you don't have to be crazy to have one! (How many times do I have to hear that!) Anyway, I have five from my first marriage but my husband didn't have any. Can you imagine marrying someone with five kids after never having any?! He's a good spare-dad (that's what the kids call him) and he is loving getting to start from the beginning with these two. We have a little boy who is 17 mo. and we just found out that we are having a little girl next. It's very exciting as there is only one other girl in the family. Her little head almost exploded when she found out she was getting a sister! My kids are 18, 14, 12, 10, 7, and 17 mo. Take care ladies and keep in touch! I'd love to hear how things are going in your growing families!

  • Congrats a girl :)     My daughter really would love a little sister but I would love a son as my SO doesn't have any other then my two that are 20 and 18.   Ready to leave the house soon HAHAHA ....  But I told her she will be super special if she is my only daughter ..   It is really exciting but rather hard as she lives with her father in another province 6hrs away.   She wants to be here but I am wanting her to stay there until she finishes grade 8.   Which is this yr :)     But with me being pregnant she wants to see everything and wants to be very much a part of this but I guess we wait until may :)

I love our large family our get togethers are so worth all the chaos :)

  • I am here. We are expecting #6. Yep I get the TV question all the time. I am 22 week and just now only started telling a few close friends and neighbors. Once we go public the comments will start flying. It's amazing how people feel comfortable saying rude comment based on you family size. The crazy thing is depending on how things go we will probably go for another so this little guy won't grow up alone. My youngest will be 10 when he is born.
  • We're having #4, and people seriously ask you if you have a TV? What the heck? So does no TV = do nothing by BD all the time?! That is hilarious.

In all seriousness, I do get the side-eye for getting pregnant with #4. Shoot, I got it for getting pregnant with #3. People figure after you have your boy and your girl that you should stop. I don't really care what they think. This is my family!

  • Hey there.  I have 4.  My oldest daughter is 20. I have 3 from my first marriage. My oldest son is 19, youngest daughter is 17, and youngest son is 14.  My DH has 1 son from his first marriage who is 35, and 2 daughters from his second marriage who are 28 and 27.  So with this new little girl will make number 8.  We are kinda excited.
  • To Happy 2768: I am about to be 20 weeks and still haven't told anyone except for very close friends and some family. I actually got a nasty text a few days ago from a friend that was offended that I hadn't told her yet. Geez! But I am keeping it under wraps for the same reason, I just don't want to hear all the comments! As for being crazy for having another one... that's exactly what this baby is! The one to keep the caboose baby company. The closest one to my youngest is 6 years older so we figured if we were going to have one more, we better make it two so that we don't have an "only" child while all the other kids are off doing big kid stuff. Besides, we already get all the snarky comments so it doesn't really matter if we have five more at this point! I'm glad to hear that you get the TV comment too. I was beginning to think that I was just a magnet for rude people. And the worst part about it is that they think they are funny! Congrats to you on number 6! And, just wondering, how do you plan on "announcing" your pregnancy? After keeping it secret so long, I don't really know how to proceed. Any ideas?
