At the end of my mat leave I will not have a job to go back to. I'm trying to find or create a way that I can still have an income, and be at home with the kids, or a super flexible job that will allow me to work around my hubby's shift work. Any suggestions?
Re: Any moms that work from home?
I work from home (am working right now, LOL) for my old office. We moved away, but they liked me enough, I guess, to find a way to keep me on part-time. I go into the office once a week (bring DS with me) and work from home the rest of the time. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be! DS is a pretty calm kiddo, but as he gets older, he requires more attention. I also find it challenging to juggle work, caring for DS, and keeping up the house. I feel guilty a lot because at least one thing is always being compromised to deal with others.
I would recommend not doing something involving phones unless it has a flexible schedule or you have someone else to look after the kids when needbe! I pretend that the baby noise is just patients in our reception area when people call! I primarily do billing (and also answer phones during my office's midday hiatus); medical billing and transcription are two big work-from-home fields. I believe telemarketing, if you don't mind that, is one of the easiest work-from-home jobs to find that doesn't require specialized training, and a lot of times you can work in the evenings when DH would be home.
Good luck!
