Affordable child care in Dunwoody/Buckhead?

I need to start looking into child care options and I am not sure where to start. I am thinking about only working part-time but I have heard that you have to pay for full time for infant care even if they are only there part time. I am very leary about in-home...but if I found a good one I might consider it. Where does everyone take their little ones?

  • Part time infant care is hard to find in atlanta. Our school offers but only on a M,W,F or T,R schedule. You can't pick which days you want your child to go and it's not cheap. We actually used an inhome daycare for the DS1 until he was 2 when we switched over to his school. I was against inhome daycare but we found a great place in our neighborhood. It was perfect for him those first 2 years. You're smart to go ahead and start looking through. Our school has a 12-18 month weight list. It's crazy!

  • I have the same question and am in the same area (Dunwoody).  I am leaning toward an in-home daycare since I know that daycare centers are incredibly expensive, and had a good experience with an inhome daycare for my older daughters... but I don't know of one right now, and it's hard to find someone you trust.  If anyone knows of a good place, I would be very happy to learn of recommendations too!!

  • We live in Dunwoody and sent MJD to Dunwoody Christian Academy.  We have been very pleased with it.  I don't believe they have a part time option, from what I understand most don't.  We also have friends that send their 2 kids to Primose and love it.  However, both are on the higher end of price.  We looked at a few other places in the Dunwoody area that were a bit lower in price and I was not a fan, but everyone's taste of course is very different.  Good luck.  If you do go the daycare route, get on the waiting lists ASAP!
