I mostly just wore the gown and mesh panties they give you in the hospital (I've only had c/s so this might be different for those with vag deliveries)...
I was thankful to have in my bag...
-comfy sweats/ yoga pants for when I'd want to get up and hobble down to see my babies/baby in the nursery
-a short robe (had this the last time) or a zip up hoodie (had this with the twins) to cover up the gown when I roamed outside my room and was easy to open/shut with BF
-slide on shoes (wore flip flops for DS; wore short Uggs for twins)--again for when you need to get up and moving
-your own toiletries--that first shower felt that much more amazing since I had my own soap, shampoo, face wash, etc.
-make up bag (a bit vain of me but there were so many pics taken after both births that I was thankful to throw on mascara before family/friends busted out the cameras without warning! lol)
-cell phone charger (a "must" esp. if you have a c/s--being there 2-3 nights and all the calls/pics you'll be taking, you'll want to recharge!)
-camera and its charger
-a pillow from home!! (the ones at both hospitals were paper thin and having my own once I got to recovery was so nice!!)
-if DH is planning to stay in the hospital with you, a throw and pillow for him (didn't have this for the twins and DH basically got nothing but a stiff sheet on a pull out couch; brought it along with DS and much more comfortable)
-take home outfits for your LOs--I had my twins in the winter so 2 onesies, 2 hats, 2 sets of baby mitts, and 2 warm outfits, plus 2 blankets to wear over the car seats for the ride home
My clothes (didn't wear while I was in hosp until checkout day) And I also wore their underwear, much more comfy after my C then my cotton ones were
Babies coming home outfits EZ 2 Nurse Pillow (DH brought this after like day 2 and I wish I had it from day 1) Camcorder & charger Camera & charger Laptop Cell & charger List of people for DH to call after babies were born Makeup (Only like one day I actually used it!) Nursing Bra Slippers/socks
Besides the other obvious like toothbrush/paste, etc. I can't think of what else.
We ended up being in hospital for 8 days (I had HBP and boys were in NICU bc preemies). Anyway, I didn't pack enough for me. I had to send DH home a couple of times, which was annoying bc we live quite a bit away from hospital (something to consider if you don't live nearby). I had to send him on a pj and undies run.
I wore the mesh panties a couple of days, but didn't have to (low flow) after day 3, so I wanted to be more comfortable in my own, which I really hadn't taken.
Boppy was a must to help with BF (if you will be trying). I took a couple of outfits for the boys, but they had zippers, which the NICU didn't allow bc didn't make comfortable for the wires to come out. So, I'd recommend taking pjs with buttons.
Clothes for Dh. Laptop, camera, phone with their respective chargers.

I think the pp's have covered it but I would add - snacks. They didn't let me eat or drink in L&D - I was there from 7:30 a.m. to midnight with no food. At that point the cafeteria was closed and dh had to get me a McDonalds. Granola bars or bananas - something self contained would have been great.
