I've never experienced constipation.. but have over the past 2 weeks. I tried Fibre 1 cereal, but it is not my favourite. It did help though!
So I headed to the doctors yesterday, and I've been instructed to take metamucil/benefibre every day from now until eternity it seems!
My doctor is very proactive, and wants to avoid hemroaids and constipation at all costs!
This actually makes me happen, because I have friends who struggled with hemroaids throughout their pregnancies, and continue to struggle with them and constipation even though their babies are 6-9 months! I'm doing whatever I can to avoid this!
I purchased Metamucil Simply Clear (I have a very strong gag reflex and thought the orange or berry stuff would make me sick). I tried it this morning with Orange Juice and voila....no taste! I would highly recommend it!
Any one else keeping up with their fibre?
Re: Keeping up with your fibre!
I was actually thinking about Metamucil or Benefiber. I will have to try the Simply Clear. Thanks for the endorsement.
I think being conscious of getting enough fiber through natural sources is a good idea. If you are consuming a high amount of fiber from whole grains, lots of vegetables, fruit, and legumes, then chances are good you are also getting the nutrients your body needs. I've always struggled with GI problems, and over the years I've learned that the supplements don't always work as well as eating a fiber-rich diet. You feel a lot better, too.
Another great remedy is Flax seed. It large doses isn't good for you, but 1 or 2 tbs a day mixed in a fruit smoothie, oatmeal, or yogurt will keep you regular and give your baby extra omega 3!
