Birth certificate?

So I just realized we never received a birth certificate for the baby. Did you just get one in the mail or did you have to do something to get it? We got a SS card and I thought the hospital told us we would get the certificate in the mail but we never did...

I got a paper in the mail with her information that will be on her birth certificate. They wanted to make sure the information was correct. The paper said if I wanted a copy of her birth certificate that I would have to send $12.

We got the paper in the hospital and they took it, but they never said what would happen next! I guess I'll just order one from the state. I feel like you should get one for free at least! Oh well! THANKS!

DS was born in HI - I had to go through the Dept of Vital Statistics and pay $10 to get a copy.

When we left the hospital we were given papers where we had to register online for a SIN, Health Card (Canada) and a Birth Certificate. We were charged $25 online for those 3 pieces and received the Birth Certificate in the mail aprox a month later.

DD's took 8 weeks to received, it came automatically and we paid nothing for it. We are in NY. SS took 2-3 weeks I believe.

We got the paper confirmation and have to take that to City Hall where we live for a paper copy. We didn't bother with it yet. No need to have important documents in the house if we don't need to. His SS card came in the mail a few weeks after he was born.

I got a paper to either take or send to the county registers office, but you can also do it online. It costs $10 for the first copy and $3 for each additional copy. If you need one later on you have to pay the $10 again so we get three for each kid.

We received instructions in our "newborn baby folder" that our hospital gave us. It told us to send a $20 money order to our cities Vital Records department. I just sent it out about 2 weeks ago because I forgot about it. I haven't received the birth certificate yet.

I had to request Alex's. I was able to do it online. $24 +$2.95 fee. Just got it yesterday too.

Someone came to my room the day after my daughter was born to confirm the information for her birth certificate. She gave us a form to fill out and send in with payment to get a birth certificate. We got both her social security card and birth certificates within a couple weeks. They came very quickly which was good since I needed them within 30 days to add her to my health insurance.

We filled out all the paperwork in the hospital and wrote a check for the copies we wanted. They sent everything off for us and we got her birth certificate a couple weeks later in the mail.

They mailed LO's SS card but we had to go to our city's Vital Records Office and get a copy of the BC in person. They don't automatically mail them here.

They gave us the form to get it in the hospital, but you have to pay for it. We haven't sent off to get it yet.

I just went onto my county's website and requested DD's BC from the Department of Vital Statistics. It cost $17 ($15 + $2 convenience fee to have it mailed). I got her BC within a week of my request.
