I gave up caffeine when we were TTC to avoid having to do it once I was pregnant. If I'm at home or buying something to drink myself, I always get decaf (even though there's still SOME caffeine in it). This way, if I'm out and don't have a choice about something to drink or have chocolate or something I don't need to worry about how close I am to 200mg. On most days, I think I probably take in no more than 15-20mg of caffeine, and some days, like the past few, I haven't had any caffeine. I don't miss it at all.
Nope...haven't given it up. My OB said that 2 caffinated drinks a day would be fine if I felt like I needed to have them. So one cup of coffee in the morning and maybe a can of pop in the afternoon would be fine. 8oz is no big deal. Enjoy!

I gave it up altogether... my issue with coffee is that I couldnt have just one cup so decided to go cold turkey on that and soda... was a rough 2 wks but now I dont even have a taste for it anymore!
I do miss the energy buzz tho!

I never drank much in the first place. But now I stick to decaf tea. And when I'm randomly craving a soda, I try to have decaf (unless the root beer is screaming my name).
I will have an occasional cup of coffee on the weekends (but more because I just don't want it...as I was also told 1 cup a day is not a big deal). What I HAVE been loving is hot water with lemon. That's it - just water and lemon - but it's really been hitting the spot for me lately. Soda I don't miss much - but I definitely have been into the chocolate a bit. Everything in moderation.
I am fine with drinking the decafe drinks but by mid day I seriously feel like I am going to fall asleep and really need the pick me up! I am glad to know 8 ounces is ok because I'm not sure I can survive without it!!!!

Most root beer is caffeine free I think. I know Barq's isn't but I'm pretty sure A&W and Mug are. Not sure about Sprecher.

Almost all root beer is caffeine free.
I've given it up. I drank decaf for a bit, but it tastes so gross that it was easier to just not have any. I miss Diet Dr. Pepper in the afternoon though.
No. But I limit myself to 1 small latte a week (due to monetary reason because I go to the coffee shop so that would get expensive). On days I don't have coffee I sometimes have tea. I have caff and decaff bags depending on if I need the boost or not. I don't drink much soda.
I do limit myself to 1 caffeinated drink a day, but there are plenty of days I have no caffeine at all. And all the caffeinated beverages I drink are until 100mg so overall I'm good.

I switched to green tea while we were TTGP, and then stopped drinking it when we got pregnant. I never had the negative affects of caffeine withdrawal that way, which is what I was trying to avoid by the green tea phase. I have a piece of chocolate maybe 3 days a week, but that's it for caffeine.
I do miss caffeine though!! Especially with all of this fatigue!
I can't drink anything hot right now, so no coffee or tea. However, Pepsi is one of the only things that settles my stomach, so I am still drinking that.
I was really worried about this and seriously limiting my intake, but after talking to the nurse and getting my doctors opinion today at my appointment that calmed a ton of my nerves regarding caffeine, listeria, artificial sweetener and everything. I'm feeling much better. I'm drinking under 200 mg of caffeine a day. Usually way less than that, but I'm not concerned about it at all. Moderation is key!
I love coffee and i was fully prepared to continue drinking it (within the allowed amount), but ever since the m/s hit i have no urge to drink it at all. I am actually shocked. I guess it's my body's way of telling me i don't need it.
I have pretty much given up the coffee but I'm still having a soda a day or so... I haven't had coffee in at least a week and then this morning I decided to make myself a cup and holy cow! What a productive morning I had! LOL I *thought* I wasn't missing it until I had it and realized the reason I started drinking it in the first place! lol I'll probably go back to not drinking it at all tho... at least until the LO gets here!
I only drink it if I'm out or going to a coffee shop or something. I used to drink about 2 cups of coffee in the morning but it didn't taste good anymore.
I do miss my Diet Pepsi and Diet Dr. Pepper though!
I can count on one hand the pops (yes pop. FROM THE MIDWEST PLEASE. ) I've had since our BFP. Mostly when working night shift. I was never that much of a coffee drinker. Just did it for the caffeine, and really haven't had the craving for one (though the specialty drinks in our lobby are divine. But expensive enough that I avoid them.) I'm addicted to Cherry Coke Zero, so that's the only caffiene I've had in five weeks. I totally expected the caffeine headaches, I used to get them when I had a pop every day and went a day or two without it, but so far they've stayed away. Fingers crossed it stays that way! I've found that one of the major things I liked about pop was the carbonation, so I've mostly been sticking to the clear pops like Sprite and Sierra Mist so I get the fizz without the caffeine. Helps my occasional bouts of an upset stomach too.
No. I didn't even cut back with DD. I'm a big sweet tea drinker and I never gave it up when I was expecting her. This time, the thought of sweet tea makes me queasy, so I am mostly drinking water- but I do (very rarely) have a coffee.
Pre-preg, I used to be total diet soda in the morning addict. And I would drink coffee or hot tea in the afternoon for pick-me-up. At first, I switched to caffeine free soda like diet cherry 7 up and diet root beer-- then after reading about limiting articifial sweeteners I stopped that too. Sparkling flavored water sometimes and Crystal Light Pure, but mostly just water for me now. It's weird, after a couple weeks I don't even want it anymore. M/S during those weeks helped too!
Good luck! I have read a cup a day isn't a big deal. Don't be too hard on yourself!

I never drank coffee prior to getting pregnant. My only caffeine intake was from Mt. Dew or pop. I have completely illiminated pop from my diet, even though I know it's ok in moderation. Once I start, I'll continue to crave it. Besides, I don't want all that extra sugar...I'd rather get it from ice cream or cookies.
Re: Have you completely given up caffeine?
8 ounces a day isn't going to hurt anything.
I've pretty much given it up completely but if I really get a craving for a coke or a glass of iced tea I let myself have it.

Nope I have 1 cup a day. Which is what I had with the other pregnancies as well.
Do people value their lives? lol
I am a pepsi addict and I need those 2 cans a day.
I didnt give it up with DS or DD either.
