Pregnant after a Loss

Oh DH...(long-ish rant) :P

Welp, I had to lay into my DH this morning....last night I got up to turn off our bedroom fan at about 11 (we usually leave it on year round cause we like the noise)...but I had a sore throat and it was bothering me.  DH made a rude comment about how he hadn't slept yet cause I was snoring.  I told him I was sorry, but he knows I have had a stuffy nose every night since getting pregnant....and he's lucky I made it till 20w to start snoring!!!  He snores every night mind you (but that's different some how!)

Twice during the night he woke me up sighing/throwing his arm down on the mattress having a tantrum like a toddler because I must have been snoring. Then this morning he was whining about being tired and he was short w/ me.

I finally snapped... I said "Seriously?!  I am so sorry that you had "1" bad night of sleep, but I had a sore throat, got about 3.5 hrs of sleep, and YOU snored too!  Imagine getting up to pee during the night every 40 minutes for the last 5 months and tossing and turning from hip and back pain, then talk to me about being tired!!"  Fully expecting the start of a fight, he replied: "You are right babe, I'm really sorry, I have no room to complain..I'm not mad...I love you."

I was like Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?  Surprise No fight???  I was so stunned (and preparing my rebuttle) I didn't even know what to say! lol

So, Thank-You to my DH for not dragging me through an argument this morning when I am dead tired with a sore throat!!!  He has been great with me through this pregnancy, but every once in awhile he needs a gentle reminder to Zip it!

Anyone else with a DH vent?!

  • I sometimes have a mini emotional break down when I realize I haven't had a full night's sleep without any pee or pain interruptions since BEFORE my BFP in June.  (The weekend before BFP I got up at least 3x per night to pee, and it's increased significantly since thing.)  And it's not like it's getting any better.  That's why any person who says, "Get your sleep now while you can!!" deserves a face slap or throat punch.

There's been a couple times I've caught Justin getting a little annoyed with me in the middle of the night, but luckily he's kept his mouth shut for the most part.  (He has called me out on my snoring/whistling breathing, but not in a way that's pissed me off...yet.)

For your sore throat, maybe it would help to have a humidifier in your room?

ETA: I've also started keeping ice water by my bed at night.  I know I'm going to have to get up to pee a bazillion times anyway, so each time I get up I drink a few sips of water.  I'm a mouth breather anyway, so my throat is always sore/scratchy at night.  It's seemed to help.

I wish this could work!  He has issues with ear plugs from years ago when he was in the Army they would have to use them for all the noise/guns, and it triggers bad memories when he is sleeping.  Sad

  • oh, the day DH complains about my snoring/heavy breathing, is the day he gets a throat punch. i've been dealing with his for over 5 years now, and not to mention his twitching! tell your DH it could be worse, you could be like my husband and not only snore, but you could twitch every 30 seconds, and be a mouth breather and breath your hot breath directly in his face - like my other half does to me.

his twitching is so weird. it's like he's dreaming, but he's not. i had to video tape him one time to show him what he does because he called me a liar. it's at least once a week, and it's about every 30 seconds or so, sometimes they are little twitches and other times, his arm is flying through the air. it's crazy!

last night, i'm not going to lie, i was the one throwing the hissy fit because he was crabby because he was tired, and as soon as i turned the tv off and was almost asleep, he started twitching hardcore and it was a vicious cycle. finally i told myself that if he did it one more time, i was moving to the couch. he must not have, or did it after i fell asleep, because i finally drifted off to sleep haha.

yay for him not arguing though! DH gets so mad at me when i tell him to roll over or bring it up. but i can't help it! i'm having a hard enough time trying to sleep, without him crazy sleeping habits keeping me awake!

LOL so hard at "twitching hardcore"!  hahaha!  Oh man, that must suck.  I'd freak for sure.  Poor thing!  Oh, and I hate the "hot breath on my face" too.

My DH is a cover stealer.  BIG TIME.  It's insane.  At some point during the winter, we will def need two duvets because otherwise I'll wind up with no covers at all and freeze my butt off.  He does this thing where he just twirls himself into a burrito and takes the covers with him bit by bit until I'm left with a crooked corner piece.

I can see by your siggy pic that your DH is not the same person as my DH but with this description, I would swear they were the same person!

My DH will also crack his knuckles in his sleep.  He lays on his back and hold his hands straight up over his face can cracks each one like 3 times.

He was Dx with restless leg syndrome which might account for the twitching.  He has a bad reaction to the meds for it though so he doesn't take them.

Anyway, I tell him almost daily that I can't wait until I am 7-8 months pregnant and start snoring and keeping HIM up for once.  He complained about it so bad when I was pg with DS and I didn't feel bad at all.  I just said, yeah, you have to deal with this for a couple months, I'm stuck with it for the rest of my life!

I do this. I'm SO thirsty, especially at night. I get up anywhere from 4-6 times a night to pee out just a couple of tablespoons of pee. The water helps me get back to sleep faster.

oh it's insane isn't it! but yet, so bizarre. it reminds me of my dog having a running dream hahaha. see your nice! i told mine if it gets bad enough, his ass can sleep on the blow up air mattress - he didn't agree. lol

and SB, it's craziness! it's something everynight. one night, it's snoring, the next night - it's his hot, not to sweet smelling breath being blown directly in my face, and then, it's the twitching. you never know which of the three you will get! HA. but believe it or not, i can't sleep without him and his crazy habits. he went hunting this weekend, and in order to get some sleep - i put body pillows on his side of the bed and "pretended" it was him sleeping there. obviously, because i wasn't be tortured it wasn't him, but it helped lol. as for cover hogging, HA this made me laugh before typing it, matt used to do that - until one night i got mad and got out of bed, and yanked the covers off of him, wrapped myself up like a burrito and let him freeze. he was mad, but now if i just tug on them a bit, he knows to share lol.

  • DH decided last night that he would open "crack" the window in the kitty litter room to get some fresh air in. I told him it was a bad idea but he didnt listen. He says I always doubt what he does. This morning before walking out the door to work there is a large green lizard sitting in the blinds of the kitchen window. I knew that I would have to rescue it before one of the cats saw it. So this morning, in heels, im trying to catch this lizard, it jumped on me and I screamed bloody mary, chasing off the cats who are trying to eat him and crying because there is nothing but death around me (this is at least what I was thinking while trying to save the lizard)

Finally, it ran into the kitty litter room which I guess is fair game because Im not allowed in there.... the lizard is going to have to hide to survive. Then I cried all the way to work because I didnt want the lizard to die. I texted DH, NO MORE OPEN WINDOWS!!! I've spent all F***ing morning trying to catch a lizard because you didnt listen to me and keep the window closed. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF THE GREEN LIZARD AND IN BIG TROUBLE IF ITS ON MY PILLOW AT HOME. He didnt text back. lol

  • I love that he just bypassed the argument and realized he was being douchy.

Side note - I had alot of trouble with breathing/snoring and I got breathe right strips and they have saved my life. I still snore some but the quality of sleep I get without nasal issue is totally worth the strips. GL.

oh, the day DH complains about my snoring/heavy breathing, is the day he gets a throat punch. i've been dealing with his for over 5 years now, and not to mention his twitching! tell your DH it could be worse, you could be like my husband and not only snore, but you could twitch every 30 seconds, and be a mouth breather and breath your hot breath directly in his face - like my other half does to me.

his twitching is so weird. it's like he's dreaming, but he's not. i had to video tape him one time to show him what he does because he called me a liar. it's at least once a week, and it's about every 30 seconds or so, sometimes they are little twitches and other times, his arm is flying through the air. it's crazy!

last night, i'm not going to lie, i was the one throwing the hissy fit because he was crabby because he was tired, and as soon as i turned the tv off and was almost asleep, he started twitching hardcore and it was a vicious cycle. finally i told myself that if he did it one more time, i was moving to the couch. he must not have, or did it after i fell asleep, because i finally drifted off to sleep haha.

yay for him not arguing though! DH gets so mad at me when i tell him to roll over or bring it up. but i can't help it! i'm having a hard enough time trying to sleep, without him crazy sleeping habits keeping me awake!

I just said, yeah, you have to deal with this for a couple months, I'm stuck with it for the rest of my life!

oh gosh, cracking knuckles in his sleep? EW! i hate that sound, it's so gross. i'd probably go insane if did that. blech, between cracking knuckles and the sound of people biting their nails, i don't know which is worse!

and i never thought about restless leg syndrome! i'll have to check into that. thanks for the info!

and oh yes, i won't care one bit. in fact, i think he knows better than to complain to me cause i'll seriously punch him for what he puts me through with this sleeping hA! the bigger i get, the heavier i breath and that along with this stuffy nose, should give him some major payback. is it mean that i get happy over that? Big Smile

  • Same with DH - I've had a stuffy nose since almost the beginning but it's gotten way worse in the last month, and I wake up stuffy every morning; so I ask DH if we can put the humidifer on and he just gives me this "ugh really ..." - he hates the noise it makes, which isn't loud at all AND i dont know how he hears it over his snoring, which wakes me up and is hard to go back to sleep after I get up to pee (sorry for the run-on sentence)  He says he needs his sleep as he has to work (I was laid off last year, haven't found work yet, but will get to stay home for a bit once baby is here) and then that just pisses me off that - hey! I am making a baby here! I need sleep too....    Sometimes he knows how to push my buttons but tonight it's humidifier on!!

  • Haha this whole post made me lol. My DH says I snore but there have been times I've had to punch him to get him to roll over because he's snoring so loud. At this point I'm behind what he calls my "pillow fortress." I have 2 body pillows, one on each side, and I take up a ton of room. I also have to get up a couple times a night to pee so I figure it's good payback.

  • haha.... honestly, men are such big babies. DH has not dared say a THING to me about anything related to my symptoms/aches/pains/ect from this pregnancy. I had a stage 4 tear with DD and after the delivery of her I think he looks at me in a whole new light. As if I am some sort of super human of sorts (as I tell him..... they call us A MOM). We sort of are super humans. Our bodies go through so much during pregnancy and they will NEVER fully understand. Glad he came to his senses. He sounds like a good guy.

  • About 1am this morning I told DH it was either him or me, but I wasn't going to sleep in the same bed for the rest of the night!  He is a horrible snorer, arm and leg thrower and I was a light sleeper even before I had to get up every two hours to pee.

I've had to be at work at 4am the past two days and with the lack of sleep the past couple of nights I feel like a cranky zombie.  DH's has complained about my newly acquired snoring and my constant tossing and turning, but my response has been basically "tough stuff, cream puff."   Welcome to my world!  :)

I sometimes have a mini emotional break down when I realize I haven't had a full night's sleep without any pee or pain interruptions since BEFORE my BFP in June.

I get more sleep now than I did at the end of my pregnancy. I wanted to flip out every time someone said this to me!

No rant here, but one word of advice - earplugs my friend!!  They are seriously the best thing ever.  Next time your DH complains hand him a pair and tell him to hush up!

    THIS!!!!

DH and I have been snoring like fog horns at each other for the last three weeks.  My DH is 100% deaf in one ear and has the "advantage" of being able to tune me out by sleeping with his good ear toward the pillow.  I finally had to use earplugs.  Best night of sleep in a month for me, lol!
