Peeing out...help

DS is wearing the size 6 Pampers and has been for a while.  Almost every morning for the last week, he's peed out.  Not much, but enough that I'm tired of washing the freaking sheets.

He weighs about 34lbs...do they even make size 7's???  Help - any other suggestions?

Re: Peeing out...help

  • are they overnight style or just regular size 6?  if regular, i'd try overnights.

pampers website does show a size 7

anyway to cut down on his liquid intake before bed?

  • Pampers, overnight size 6.  The Huggies don't stand a chance.  I only see regular size 7's not overnights.

We did cut back on liquid at night - he gets 1 sippy cup with dinner at about 7pm and then goes to bed at 8:15.  The only other option would be to not give him anything with dinner.

  • I can't believe you are just letting C "marinade" in a wet diaper.  I demand you send the Mom of the Year award back immediately.

For my real response: when we got to the issue, we had to switch to overnights and cut back on liquids close to bed.  Is a pull-up for bed time feasible?

  • Harm - I thought the Overnights held more than the Pull Ups?  If not, I'll move to the Pull Ups.

It seems the kid is like a camel.  He holds it all in until the wee hours of the night.

and yes, this.  i can't believe you arent just setting your alarm to wake up in the middle of the night and change him.

Oh, I knew I should have been working on my pee monitor that alerts parents to a wet diaper during the night. I'm sure it would sell just as well as the Angel Care monitor.

I give Evan his bath about 30 minutes after dinner hoping that the warm water will make him pee. I'm sure that doesn't actually work. I've noticed that there will be a week or so that he pees out and then he will get back to normal.

If you can't find a size 7 in the overnights, it might be helpful to just put him in the size 7s since they are a size bigger.

  • We have had a few times where he has peed in the bed, but we think it's more to his diaper falling down over the top and him actually peeing out of his diaper then it actually soaking out.  Do you notice his diaper sagging in the front or sides in the morning enough that it gaps?  We had to make sure we were securing the top tabs and legs - I think we were just getting lazy with it.

No doubt. I hope you're prepared for the years of therapy he'll need from the emotional scars.

  • I'm no help, as we're having the same problem just this week. But we use the Huggies overnights, the Pampers didn't work well for us.

  • have you ever tired those inserts? they used to sell them at babies r us. they were basically a maxi pad that you stick in the diaper in the boy pee area and they absorb extra there. I know many moms who swore by them, I hope they still make them!

We use the overnight Pull Ups.  Once we moved to those, we don't have nearly as many leaky episodes.

But I still think you should set your alarm to go off every hour to check the state of his diaper.

  • Other than what was already suggested, try pointing his you-know-what down when you put the diaper on at night.  That seems to help, so he's peeing more into the diaper than just out the top.

I had heard about these a while back, and someone else reminded me of them yesterday.  I may run over there and grab a package.  I can probably get by just cutting back liquids, but then he really has nothing to drink with dinner.

I also know a mom who stuck an actual maxi pad in there too and it worked.
