I wonder if it's a mental thing at this point. Not like something wrong mental, but just meaning that is all she knows. We are on #2 and I can't imagine being "done" yet...I wonder if she feels the same way. To be pregnant for the last 10/15/however many years...its just become a natural part of her life. That being said, I wish they'd practice NFP. DH's aunt has 7 kids and I think after 4-5 it becomes verrrryyy difficult to give each one as much attention/love as possible. Not because of lack of effort but just due to not enough time in a day!

Although it seems insane to me. They look like they are great parents, their house does not seem anymore crazy or chaotic than mine. They can afford it. I do worry a little about the toll so many pregnancies might be taking on her body.

All this. I actually respect them a lot. But I feel like her body must just be shredding to pieces on the inside. I've only been pregnant four times and **I** feel that way!

I respect their religious beliefs and all, but the female body is not meant to give birth to 20 children. At a certain point they need to realize that they are risking not only Michelle's life but possible the life of their child.

After having a preemie last time, and being so lucky that she did well, I was hopeful Daddy Duggar would give Momma Duggar's ladybits a break. I can only hope Mother Nature knocks her into menopause sooner than later. Her ute must be exhausted.

Personally I'm excited for Michelle. Everyone looks at large families with the definite side eye, granted yes 20 is a big number even for most large families but it's what they want.
I'm sure I'm opening myself up for something right here but...
The Duggars leave it to God (though I vaguely recall hearing something about abstaining the first 6 months after birth). I admire them for that. Personally I would be doing the same if my first 2 pregnancies were not c-sections.

I think that after both she and the baby nearly died with her last pg, and the fact that she has 19 children already who would be left without a mother, that it is absolutely irresponsible to take that risk again.
I suppose that ship has already sailed, so I just hope that her current pg is uneventful for both her and the baby and that this will be her last one.
I mean, I didn't even have any problems like that and I still fear that something would happen with a subsequent pg and I would leave B without a mom.

Very well said, Sonadora. I think they are being extremely reckless and naive to think that the problems they had with the last pregnancy will be cured by diet and an elliptical machine.
As the mother of a preemie (and one not nearly as premature as their last child), I am really kind of disappointed in this choice. But, who am I to judge?
My take on them is that they are a happy and loving family, all the kids seem well adjusted. I don't think any of them are screaming for attention. So I don't see any problems with her having more children if that's what they (and apparently God) so choose. As far as her health, I think it would be harder on her and her body if she hadn't had a kid in 20 years and suddenly had one again, I think all the pregnancies have tricked her body into thinking she's still in her 20s. I also think the last baby being premature was a freak thing that could happen to anyone at anytime with any pregnancy.
I also understand why she would want to keep having them to the point that I once told DH after having Jax that I also could just keep having them...but wouldn't have more than 3 simply for financial reasons. As they seem to have that figured out, they can rock on as far as I'm concerned.

Just because god gives me a gun it doesn't mean I should go on a shooting spree. Just because god gives her a vagina it doesn't mean she needs to overpopulated the planet with more breeders.
i'm a really religious person, but I think God lets you make responsible decisions on your own.. I think having a baby at 45 (when you already have 19 children) is not a responsible decision.... geesh..
