Traditional foods for post partum recovery

I found a good website a little while ago that is run by a nutritionist. She had a list of good foods and herbs to cook with to help with post partum recovery. I'd love some more recipes, but am not having much luck finding the info I want.

Does anyone have any info/experience with post partum nutrition? Recipes you liked? Websites you can link?

Apr 18: FET #3 (natural cycle) = cancelled due to missed ovulation

  • I was so exhausted during recovery that we often ate peanut butter and jam sandwiches in my house.  Midwife recommended.  Lots of protein.

    Lol....yep, I remember that after DD. Poor DH didn't get a proper meal for weeks (he can barely cook Kraft Dinner).

    This time I've wised-up and have a month worth of freezer meals. I want to make sure I include things that are good for post partum recovery. I'm a peanut butter monster, so I always have lots of that around :)

  • I agree with lots of protein.  I ate throughout my labor (and delivery), so I wasn't starving right after the birth.  I still downed an entire steak and some potatoes.

     

        
  • My good friend (a fellow homebirther) made me a quiche for my first PP meal.  It was PERFECT. 

    I plan to continue with foods that I am eating while pregnant- lots of leafy greens and heavy on the protein and limiting sweets and carbs.
