Question about starting nutramigen in older infants

We just realized we are dealing with MSPI in DS2.  He's a big boy, 22+ lbs.  The nutramigen is soooo much thinner than his old formula.  It is not satisfying him.  Not remotely.  Has anyone here started it in an older infant and ended up added a slight bit of cereal to it to get it to match the consitency of a previous formula?

I know adding it can be a choking hazard.  I'm not talking about making it that thick.  I also know that rice cereal has zero nutritional value, which iis why I got a multigrain one made with brown rice.  It is also dairy and soy free.  And organic.  Stick out tongue

Re: Question about starting nutramigen in older infants

  • i never liked the idea of putting cereal in the bottle b/c it increases the changes of obesity (so i've heard).  But i have done it in the past in hopes of getting him to STTN (didn't work).. anyways, if you're using just a little bit to make it thicker than i can't see why not.. at least he's old enough to have cereal so you should be fine.
