Time change

Which is better/worse for you/LO, spring or fall? It seems that although B got an extra hour of sleep she's more cranky and tired than ever. Last night she wanted to go to bed at 6:30 and this morning she was up at 5. DH said she fell asleep on the couch at 11, she doesn't usually nap until 1:30ish. Her usual bedtime is 8:30 or 9 and sleeps until 7. I don't remember the spring time change being this bad, at all! For me, I hate the fall time change simply b/c it gets dark so early now.

But for your LO, do both time changes affect them the same? I hope her body adjusts quickly!

And ALL the kids are off the wall here at school. I'm blaming the time change:)

Re: Time change

  • I honestly don't really remember last year.  This year we had Stella out late at a hockey game on Saturday night so she slept until 7:30 (which would have been 8:30).  Then I had her out shopping yesterday and she only napped in the car and we were back on schedule last night/this morning.  I think we're just lucky though.

  • I made sure to keep him up a little late on Saturday (till 9:30) and he slept until after 8 Sunday morning (so really 9). He napped and went to bed at his normal time yesterday and was up at his normal time today.

He's a really good sleeper in general, so it doesn't really phase him I guess!

  • We put them both to bed slightly later on Saturday and they stayed right on track, in fact A slept the best he has in a week (I think that he has started teething).  So far, so good.

  • DD has been out of whack a few days now. Fri night she was up 3 hours overnight (not feeling well)-only got about 9-10hrs of sleep (shes usually good for 12). Didn't nap Saturday-we were in Buffalo for the day. She crashed in the car on the way home at 750 (really 650 with time change) and woke up at 730 Sun morning (really 830). Put her down for a nap Sunday and she napped less than an hour and woke up miserable-I think her internal clock was telling her it was one time, but it wasnt. She went to bed around 830 last night and was up at 730 today. She has been extra cranky, but hasnt been feeling 100% either. Typically she wakes up around 8-830 so shes been up earlier since the change. I dont remember how last year went or how the spring went, but I dont think it was anything out of the ordinary. I'm hoping after a few days we'll get back on track. I know I feel out of whack myself and was dragging today!
  • It went way better than I expected with minimal manipulation on our part - she stayed up a little bit and slept in a little bit on her own for saturday so she ended up taking a late nap and was up for a while babbling to herself on Saturday night, until after 10 (for a kid who normally goes to bed at 8 pm). She slept until after 8 on Sunday morning. We really lucked out with this one, I feel like losing an hour in the. Spring won't go so easily...
