If you use apps on an iPhone/iPad etc

Does it seem like nothing else can compete?  My friend has been giving me stuff like her kid's Leappad and the Fisher Price PowerTouch system (her kids are done with them, but the stuff is pretty new) - but my kids pretty much show no interest in it, they just want to use our iPad/iPhone.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had that experience too.  I'm wondering if I should even bother taking or keeping the stuff.

  • I am not an apple nutso but I must admit when it comes to their touch screen technology nothing comes close.  My work phone is a droid and the touchscreen sucks compared to the iphone.  We also have an ipad that DD LOVES.  I am sure your kids can feel the difference too between the ipad and leappad.  I had brief thoughts of getting DD a leappad for Christmas but assumed she would try it for 5 minutes and then ask for the ipad.

  • When DH upgraded to iPhone 4, he call disabled his original 3G and essentially turned it into an iPod touch for DS. Honestly, DS is more proficient on it than I.  He can navigate through and use the apps with incredible dexterity. We have tons of educational games and he just loves it.  We talked about a Leap Pad, but we know it will lose out to the iPod in a matter of minutes.

  • They just do not compare. And the iPods and iPads will grow with your child. We have hard shell cases for the boy's iPods and our/their iPads, which makes them very sturdy and kid proof. Love them.

  • DH received an iPod touch at a conference just before DS turned 2, and gave it to DS.  Then he bought an iPad 2 this past summer and gave DS his original iPad.  These are the only electronic toys DS has, and I see no need to get him any others.  He can play so many different educational games, and we just put a few different shows on it rather than letting him watch TV on a regular basis.

  • DH had the original IPad and recently to the IPad2 so we gave DD the old one, this is after her having his old Iphone for a while. She loves it and, no, nothing else compares to it. And I love it for her. There is this new app she jsut got called Pigeon where she helps make up stories and then they are read alud with her voice ad-libbing some of it, so cool. I'm a fan! Not to mention the movies we have on there and the stuff we can download from Netflix, she watched teh Leap Frog videos all the time.
