LO is 15 weeks old and I go back to work in a week. What is reasonable to expect in terms of communication? At home, I keep track of when/how long he sleeps since he has so much trouble napping... also, I'd like to know when/how much he eats, since I'll be pumping at work. What do your daycare providers tell you at the end of the day?
Re: starting daycare next week...
I take my LO to an in-home DCP & she provides me with a daily report that tells me:
when & how long my DD napped
when & how many ounces of formula she had
When & how much solids she's had
All diaper changes
I don't have a set schedule with my LO....both my DCP & myself simply go by her cues. But the information you do want to know isn't unreasonable & I think most DCP's can provide that for you if they don't already.
This sounds like what I'll be getting from my DCP at the end of each day. Good luck, my son started daycare today. It's taking all my willpower to not call the daycare every hour lol.
For the first week, DCP wrote down how often she napped, ate, how much she ate, diapers, etc. After that, she just told me verbally if I asked or if anything unusual happened. DD is a pretty easy baby though and she slipped right into their routine pretty easily. She does write everything down but she just doesn't give me a physical copy of her daily happenings every day. But she'll refer to her "log" if I ask something specific. For me, that's perfectly acceptable. I know some people like to have a daily log of LO's day every day, so if you would like that, definitely ask.
I also called every day for the first week at least once during the day, just to see if there were any problems or questions I could answer for her. But, overall it went pretty smoothly. Also, DD was not a great napper at 3 months either, but once she started going to daycare full time it became much easier.

DD goes to a center, and they have a little standard form they fill out everyday which notes when they fed her & how much she took, the start & stop time of naps during the day, and their rule is to check diapers every hour so it notes if it was wet/dry/bm. Its been really helpful for me feel like I knew how her day went even though I didn't spend it with her, and then I know what to expect for the evening with her too.
This, exactly. I track all that stuff myself on an iphone app, so I was glad that the daycare did it too. I input it into my app every night.
